Duraflame 750W / 1500W Electric Stove Heater with Remote Control
Uses too much electricity
I bought two of these for the kids rooms upstairs which are usually quite cold. They did heat the room but to my surprise when I got my next electric bill I was shocked. They now sit in a corner and are not used.
Just wouldn't work
I've always loved fireplaces since I was a little girl and promised myself when I buy a house there will be a fireplace, but this house didn't have one. When I saw this Duraflame heater it looked good enough. It was a lot smaller then I thought it would be and every time I plugged it in it would only blow cool air then go off. I thought it was my outlet so I moved it to others, same thing. Just wouldn't work. I sent it back, was very disappointed. I've had other heaters that didn't have the nice appearance and worked fine. I did however just purchase a huge electric fireplace and as soon as the installation guys plugged it in the same outlet it immediately gave off heat, I'm talking hot.
We bought two of these 2 years ago. We have one in the master bedroom, which is the width of the house, and it gets so warm, we have to shut it off. We have another downstairs, which heats our sun room, living and dining area. Propane gas went so high, we use these heaters all the time instead of the propane.
We love them!! Couldn't say anything bad about them, because they are great. I highly recommend them, you will not be sorry.
Great for controlled room temp. I bought three of these and put them in each of our bedrooms to cut back on using our big heater and they work great. They warm the room so good it will run you out of the room. Love the remote, makes it so nice to change the flams from lighter to darker or to change the temp from high to low without getting out of the bed. By using these heater I thank my electric bill went down a little.
waste of money
I would never recommend this to any one! It is a waste of money, this didn't work as long as it should have was used off and on during a 3 month time frame. Then it would no longer work. I feel I was cheated also I was embarrassed as I gave this as a Christmas gift.
Worked for two years
Really enjoyed this efficient unit for the bedroom. However, after two years nearly to the day, the unit started vibrating and and making a loud "growlling" sound. Hubby (who can fix ANYTHING) took it apart, tightened every thing he could get to and still the problem wasn't fixed. Still puts out heat fine but the loud growl and vibration (we keep it on a rug as we have hardwood throughout the house) make it unusable.
I bought this heater in 2011. Writing this review in case others have had this problem. The heater worked about 6 months before making a horrible screaching noise. I took the back off and figured out the noise was coming from the moving part that creates the flame affect. I unplugged the wire for that and my heater no longer has a flame movement but a constant flame. It does work great now. Just no flickering affect. In case you're having the same issue, I hope this helps. No I'm not a man, but can't stand wasting money so I'll try to fix anything if possible.
Save your Money
Purchased this last Fall. Very noisy!! This year the Heater is not working. I did expect this to last more than one season, Save your Money
Screws too short for connecting legs
Sure I connected the legs. Tried to slide heater the legs " popped off". Needs longer screws with washers so the screws won't come out the holes.
Its beautiful and heats our living room just wonderfully. It can look more realistic, but I love it anyhow.
This is not even built by Duraflame
This heater is made by some company called Twin Star International. I bought this unit and it died after 6 months of actual usage. First the bulb died. Then 1 month later the whole unit died. If you like throwing your money away please purchase this heater, if you are like me and spend upwards of a hundred dollars on an item you feel should last a couple of years DO NOT BUY. I repeat DO NOT BUY. Your welcomed, I just saved you at least a hundred dollars.
Just finished it's second winer with us.
I live in a house that's over 100 years old with wooden windows. These heaters were a life saver!!!! Got one for master room and one for sons room. Our heater went out and we used these to keep us warm. The first winter we ran them everyday on high. This past winter we just used them to take the chill off. I guess we were lucky to get two good ones. I wasn't happy with the heating bills. They spoke of them costing very little on your heating bill.....not true!
