Care and Cleaning

Care & Cleaning

Saffiano

The polyvinyl-coated leather is generally water repellent and should repel most soil. Should the surface become soiled, cleaning should be done with a soft cotton cloth or soft toothbrush slightly dampened with distilled water (sodium-free seltzer water may be substituted) and a mild bar soap, applied in a circular motion. Repeat with distilled water only to ensure no residual soap remains. The material should then be allowed to dry completely. No creams, polishes, cleansers, or leather conditioning agents should be applied to any portion of the leather. The 100% vachetta leather trim will characteristically darken over time with use and exposure to light.

Pebble Leather

This leather has been treated for water repellency. It can usually be cleaned with the use of a soft cotton cloth slightly dampened with distilled water (sodium-free seltzer water may be substituted) and a mild bar soap, applied in a circular motion. Repeat with distilled water only to ensure no residual soap remains. The leather should then be allowed to dry completely. This collection requires no creams, polishes, or leather conditioning products to maintain its beauty.

Florentine Leather

The Florentine leather has not been specifically treated for water repellency. Thus, the leather will temporarily darken when wet, and return to the original tone once completely dry. The waxed surface may assist in staving off some dirt. With continued use, a lovely shine or patina will develop, only enhancing the beauty of this leather. It is also characteristic for lighter colors to darken with use over time and exposure to light. Minor abrasions may be removed or lessened with the use of a very soft cloth and a gentle buffing action. This collection requires no creams, polishes, or leather conditioning products to maintain its beauty.

Claremont

Claremont Woven

The leather used in the Claremont Woven collection is both water repellent and generally scratch resistant. This leather can usually be cleaned with the use of a soft cotton cloth slightly dampened with distilled water (sodium-free seltzer water may be substituted) and a mild bar soap, applied in a circular motion. Repeat with distilled water only to ensure no residual soap remains. The leather should then be allowed to dry completely. This collection is very durable and should require no creams, polishes, cleansers, or conditioning products to maintain its beauty.

Patent Leather

Patent Leather is tanned in the traditional way. However, the final stages involve the addition of a varnish and a degree of buffing to create the polished high-shine finish. The bags/small leather goods should not come into contact with other bags, as the color can rub off slightly. This leather can usually be cleaned with the use of a soft cotton cloth slightly dampened with distilled water (sodium-free seltzer water may be substituted), applied in a circular motion. The leather should then be allowed to dry completely. This collection requires no creams, polishes, or leather conditioning products to maintain its beauty. Please note that it is a natural characteristic of vachetta leather to darken over time with use and exposure to light.

Suede

Dooney & Bourke's suede bags have been treated for general water repellency. However, when exposed to water for any sustained period of time, some absorption will occur. In this instance a dry cloth should be used to blot excess liquid, then the item should be allowed to finish drying naturally. Once dry, a suede brush should be used to gently lift the nap. Simple surface dirt may be removed from the suede bags with the use of a suede brush applied in short even strokes, alternating direction occasionally, with minimal pressure. Some grime that remains following the aforementioned treatment may be removed or lessened with the use of a soft white eraser used in a gentle circular motion, followed by the light stroke of a suede brush. No creams, polishes, or leather conditioning products should be used on the leather trim and handles. Please note that it is a natural characteristic of vachetta leather to darken over time with use and exposure to light. Please note: Some consideration should be given when using these handbags during inclement weather. In addition, care should also be taken as to where these particular handbags are stored when not in use. This consideration will keep the soil on the bottom to a minimum and maintain optimal beauty of the handbag.

Coated Cotton

The polyvinyl-coated cotton fabric is generally water repellent and should repel most soil. Should the fabric become soiled, cleaning should be done with a soft cotton cloth or soft toothbrush slightly dampened with distilled water (sodium-free seltzer water may be substituted) and a mild bar soap, applied in a circular motion. Repeat with distilled water only to ensure no residual soap remains. The material should then be allowed to dry completely. No creams, polishes, cleansers, or leather conditioning agents should be applied to any portion of the vachetta leather trim. The 100% vachetta leather trim will characteristically darken over time with use and exposure to light.

Sutton

The polyvinyl-coated cotton fabric is generally water repellent and should repel most soil. Should the fabric become soiled, cleaning should be done with a soft cotton cloth or soft toothbrush slightly dampened with distilled water (sodium-free seltzer water may be substituted) and a mild bar soap, applied in a circular motion. Repeat with distilled water only to ensure no residual soap remains. The material should then be allowed to dry completely. No creams, polishes, cleansers, or leather conditioning agents should be applied to any portion of the vachetta leather.

Nylon

The nylon fabric will initially repel water. However, if nylon is exposed to water for any length of time, it will darken momentarily due to some water absorption. Should this occur, blot with a dry white or light-colored cloth and allow it to dry completely. For simple spot cleaning, use a soft cotton cloth slightly dampened with distilled water (sodium-free seltzer water may be substituted) and a mild bar soap, applied in a circular motion. Repeat with distilled water only to ensure no residual soap remains. The fabric should then be allowed to dry completely. Oily spots should first be wiped free of excess liquid. Talcum powder is then sprinkled on the area and allowed to sit briefly. Using a dry toothbrush, gently brush the powder away to alleviate the soil. No creams, polishes, cleansers, or leather conditioning products should be used on the trim and handles.

Giraffe Print OMG, the giraffe print is lovely, I own the juliette bag in this print, it is amazing, very unique looking, so roomy and easy to use, excellent quality, you can't go wrong with this bag. Way to go DB/QVC. 11-14-10
Love it! I purchased this bag even though I preferred the larger size because the handle is nice and long and is all leather as opposed to the larger, more expensive handbag. I got the tan and it is a nice contrast. The leather is really nice and I love the key fab it comes with to find my keys easily. It is great looking with the good quality Dooney and Bourke is known for. 04-08-10
Great Handbag I love this handbag and It is very high quality and durable, The leather is butter soft and the handles are a good size and comfortable to carry, I highly reccomend this handbag. I ordered the mini version at first and though it was beautiful, the handles were a little small for me. This one is perfect. 04-07-10
