Disc Gear 120 Disc Faux Leather Disc Organizer w/Light
My Husband Loves It!
I took a chance and ordered the disc gear organizer for my husband as a gift. He's not the easiest person to please, so when I say he loves it, that's saying a lot. Our CD collection is now organized and we can easily locate what we're looking for. But you have to bring it back because we need another one--please!
finally bought for myself!
I have put this item on my Christmas List for the last 3 years and no one ever even expressed interest or wanted to listen to my description of it and how badly I wanted to try it so....finally...I bought 3 for myself and have started to transform my CD collection (movies for #2, not sure yet for #3). Anyway, I now have all my family members who are each trying to talk me out of 1 (or more) and, yes, these are the same folks who's eyes glazed over when I tried to explain the idea to them..... BWAHAHAHA. You've just got to bring this item back. I'm listening to CDs that I haven't listened to in years because I can find them now! This would be a great gift for almost anyone. Have purged about a 1/2 a recycle bin of CD cases already, with much more to go. Great looking too.
Please bring back!
Last year I bought 2 disc organizers for Xmas , one for my son and one for my husband, they loved them especially my son. This Xmas I bought one for myself but before I could use it my son asked me to get him another one for his kids movies, so I gave him mine, thinking I could order another for myself. But to my surprise they are no longer in stock, please, please bring them back soon!!!!!!!!!!!!
Free up your walls and find a movie!
DVDs had long taken over most of our living room. We kept buying more and more organizers, but they never held enough, and we still couldn't find a movie. There were several times when a movie was purchased twice because we just did not know we already owned it.
A cousin recommended this system. I bought 4, estimating it would be enough. I actually needed 7.
The PROs: It will free up space in your home. You will know what discs you own and where they are. You can browse your whole collection without pulling boxes off the shelves to read the descriptions and won't have to reshelve them. You won't break fingernails or discs trying to remove the DVDs from the various types of center ring holders. The boxes are beautiful and lend a neat, clean, stylish appearance to your home instead of piles of clutter. The quality is excellent, and the "faux" leather is an impressive one. It is soft, and the feel is rich and supple. The stitching is a beautiful decorative touch.
We created a "master list" of all the organizers, so we can browse our entire collection at once. We included title, genre, DVD vs Blu Ray, and rating. It is printed twice - once alphabetically, and once by genre/alphabetically. We keep it in sheet protectors held together with a key ring. It is great to be able to think "I'd like to see a comedy" and know exactly which ones you have, and exactly where you can find it.
The CONs: The literature albums. This needs some work. I would prefer a three-ring binder set up. The system comes with a binder with sleeves, grouped in sets of 21, fused into the binding. Let's say your organizational system determined a disc was going in slot 47. You would need to count the sleeves until you got to the 47th one. then insert the artwork, then apply the little sticker to the plastic sleeve that said "47". The sleeves are very thin and tend to stick together, so keeping to the right spot is harder than you might imagine. The stickers are tiny, and several times got placed at an angle instead of straight on.
The sleeves also tend to split if the artwork is a bit thicker than normal. We have several DVDs that had a "cardboard" kind of cover that actually made up the box. We had to cut those apart and trim them down to get them to fit without ripping the sleeve.
Because the sleeves are fused into the binder, you cannot replace them if they rip.
You are also limited in how much literature you can keep for each disc. I think there are 21 sleeves per section, so you do get 6 extra slots per book, but since they are grouped, you can only have one "extra" slot per section.
I would prefer a 3-ring binder set up. I wouldn't have to count to the right spot, I could use extra spaces if the DVD had lots of literature included, and I could replace it if one ripped. There could be an "oversized artwork" sleeve for the ones that were bigger.
My system did not include numbered stickers for the DVDs, but rather gave instructions to write the number on the center ring. This was an issue for some DVDs, because the artwork often extended up through the ring. The artwork was often dark, with only faces being a lighter shade, so I had to write "E47" across an actor's face. I can understand the sticker system does not work well for 2 sided discs, but the pen system doesn't work for all instances, either. Plus, my handwriting is not great, and it gave a sloppy appearance to the discs.
These cons are well worth it. I would have purchased more of these as gifts for family members, but they are now out of stock. I have found no better system for organizing discs. Quite pleased!
Great organizing idea
Thanks for this idea its really helps clean up the clutter, I found CDs that I forgot I had. Reminds me of the old phone index, I ordered 2 and may need another
Thanks for Albuq.
Worth every cent
This product is worth its weight in gold and then some. I shutter to think of the space required to handle my music, dvd and programs discs. The space saving feature is remarkable. It can catagorize, sort and label all of your discs, so there is never guessing where and what you have. Its nicely constructed and keeps everything clean and dust-free. You can't go wrong with this product.
I ordered two of these and had to send one back because it had no book or sheet and a piece was broke on it. I kept the other one because there was nothing wrong with it. This will be handy to keep my games in. I will probably try to order another one for my movies. The brown color looks real nice. Thanks
Disc Gear please bring back the 40 round hard disc holders.
Luv this product!!!!
I bought 3 of these years ago. Now I have 6 & getting ready to buy more! I have an extensive DVD & CD collection & was seriously running out of space. This product saved my life! My townhouse is pretty small so space is limited. Makes organization a breeze!
I absolutely love these. I have been using them for a few years now. I introduced them to my family and now they use them too. It clears up so much space on book shelves or where ever. I recommend these to everybody. I actually have pictures of mine on my phone and show co workers. Lol. I color code mine and also go by ratings. My kids just look in the booklets and tell me what they want to watch. I own about 12 and plan on buying more. You will love these if you buy one or more.
Love Love Love
I now own 5 and will order more in the future. I love having our large DVD collection organized. Shelves look great without hundreds of DVD cases.
I love Disc Gear products. This was my second purchase of this model. I also have two smaller versions. This purchase allowed me to have all my Christmas DVDs and CDs in one place. The index is very easy to do. The Disc Gear box is also pretty and looks so nice on the bookshelf. Love it!
I have 1500+ movies. The boxes take up half a room alone. Ordered 2 of these to start. If I like (which I'm positive I will) I'll order the other 12 or 13 I need. Can't wait to start. I love qvc. Was going to use dvd storage books but this is so , uh more logical, they stack up and gets discuss picked for you. I love it, and the insert sleeve book is genius, the main reason for not throwing boxes away.
