Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and helpful for a deep loss The Angel of Grief statue in Rome by William Wetmore Story is the most touching expression of grief and loss I've seen. This statuette is not an exact replica but I find it just as beautiful and equally powerful. I keep it beside the urn of my loved one. The angel is a testament to her memory and conveys my grief, and "holds" it for me until the next time I can sit with my memories of her. Anyone who sees it will know how loved and important she was. It's not a perfect piece. There are minor imperfections, such as small bumps on the wings and some rough edges in the tight areas under the arms. The fingertips appear to have been reattached. However, these things are largely unnoticeable to me and don't detract from the overall meaningfulness of the piece. It has high detail and I'm impressed by the craftsmanship that went into making this delicate statue. It appears to be hand-painted. I already treasure this angel and will continue to do so. I recommend it to anyone who is grieving or who wishes to adorn a loved one's memorial. I hope these photos and review help you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mourning Angel This is a wonderful tool to help someone who has lost a loved one. The grief is so great in this statue that it symbolizes loss that another person has felt and makes one feel less alone. I have purchased several of these and have given them as gifts to those who need a "place" to put their pain until they are ready to again feel it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is beautiful This is so beautiful! The detail is great. Unfortunately, the writing is so small, it cannot be read. Other than that, I am very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a perfect tribute. Our granddaughter always loved the Angel of Grief statue that she saw in the catalog. She even drew it. I should have bought it for her years ago. She died in September, and her drawings and pictures were displayed at the funeral, including the picture of the Angel of Grief. I had to buy it for my daughter for a keepsake. It hurts to look at it, but we had to have it. It's lovely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful for memorial I have bought many of these statues from Toscano. I give these statues as a memorial of a person who has passed away to their family. What I do is insert a small framed picture of the deceased, place it under the arm of the angel.I give this to their family as a memento of their loved one. This shows an understanding of the grief they endure over the loss of their loved one. They are very comforted with this gesture and express their love of this thoughtfulness and memory of their passed loved one. I have the garden sized statue with my parents framed photo placed under the hanging arm. It is in the corner of their bedroom. It brings peace and comfort when I look at it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Broken arm Mine arrived with the extended arm broken off, which was surprising because the statue was encased in Styrofoam and the box appeared undamaged. It was like the statue and the broken piece were packed together and shipped out. However, it all ended well because when I called Toscano, the rep told me that I didn't have to return the broken statue and that they would send a replacement which they did and which arrived in good condition.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Broken Wing Being familiar with the original sculpture created by Wm. W. Story, this is a very nice little replica. It's weighty and has a yellow tinge here and there, so don't expect a marble type finish. Mine came home with a broken wing. My husband glued it back on and you can somewhat see where it was glued. All in all, it still evokes strong emotions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely Statue I ordered this for my sister, since she had always admired the life-sized tombstone of this sculpture in a cemetery in St. Louis. The sculpture is lovely, and the desk-top one did not disappoint. My only issue is that it looked as if the arm draped across the top had been repaired. It wasn't obvious enough for me to return it, but it still looked as if it had been broken at one time. My sister loved the statue and that is what matters! I have ordered from this website since then and probably will in the future. They have a tremendous selection of unusual products.
