Rated 1 out of 5 by from Windows installed improperly, then restarts on its own From the very first time I used it, it would work for a few minutes, then restart on its own and say Windows was installed improperly - when it came with Windows preinstalled. Updated the software for latest updates, worked for a week. Now it just randomly restarts every time I turn it on. Usually only restarts on its own once for every time I turn it on. Works fine, then screen goes black, and it turns back on. Almost every, single, time. For a brand new computer, I can't stand this thing!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A compliment to with on-going failure of Windows I will pre-face my review by stating that I purchased the XPS 13 after reading rave reviews about how it measures up to MacBooks. I was looking to replace a 2011 MacBook Air and thought that the XPS would be a nice compact home-use companion to my Lattitude E7470 which is used for work. The Lattitude has Windows 7 Enterprise and has the familiar Windows interface and has proven to be very stable. I actually prefer Windows 7 to OS X because I am far more proficient with Windows. Then the XPS 13 showed up... The laptop itself is pretty impressive. It weighs about the same as my MacBook Air but is about an inch shorter due to the lack of a bezzel around the screen. The track pad is also pretty good. It’s not on par with new Macs in terms of precision and multi-touch functionality but it’s better than the Lattitude and most other PCs I have looked at. However, the accolades end once the computer boots up. Windows 8 was a train-wreck. Windows 10 is marginally less of a disaster but absolutely a step in the wrong direction from Windows 7 in terms of stability. I immediately started having driver issues when installing printers that work flawless with OS X and Windows 7 machines. Not just one printer either - my Cannon Laser Jet and my Cannon Wide Format Inkjet would not install on this machine. It froze multiple times while installing. I held down the power button to re-boot and had a screen pop up prompting me to ‘swipe down’ to confirm the re-start! That would be great if this was a touch-screen machine! In addition, Windows 10 is just plain annoying with all of the notifications about the new Edge browser and Office 365 - both of which I find sub-par when compared to Safari and stand-alone Microsoft Office. I’m fed up with the computer and am sending it back to Dell after only 5 days. It may be a decent machine, but you’ll need an old copy of Windows 7 to take advantage of it. Windows 10 ruins this product. It pains me to go buy another Mac but at least OS X is stable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great ultra-portable laptop Great lightweight fast portable laptop with excellent battery life and an amazing screen. Only regrets are that the touch screen is only capacitive and Windows Hello will not work as the laptop does not have either fingerprint scanner or IR camera. Difficult to find these details before ordering. All in all, still happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ultra portable on the planet ! Well initially I was sceptical that the xps 13 looked too small almost like a 11inch laptop but from the minute I got hold of it I have fallen in love with it. Even when it sits idle on my table I constantly glance over it to see an impeccable piece of art dell has come out with. Keep up the good work folks! cheers! Proud member of the XPS family.
