Dell 17" Laptop Intel Core i7 8GB RAM, 1TB HD w/ Tech Support
Super Fast Elegant Laptop
I am delighted with this computer and so glad I ordered it! It is lightening fast, the screen is gorgeous as is the silvercolor I chose and the only issues related to becoming accustomed to Windows 8 which is "different" and Office 2013. The Premiere PC support is good, although I had an isolated experience with a tech person who was unable to help me but eventually the supervisor came on the line and she was terrific! Likewise Dell support was courteous and professional and I was impressed that the tech person in India asked me to advise if he was speaking too quickly or if I had problems understanding him. Very "Classy." Anyone looking for a superfast computer with the latest Intel processor should be very pleased with this laptop. Well worth the money.
My prior laptop was a dell and I loved it, I also have an HP desktop which I love as well, both are getting old and slow so I decided to up grade to this. Big expensive mistake. The cursor pad at times is too sensitive then at other times doesn't seem to sense anything. I've tried adjusting the sensitive several times but it doesn't seem to help. My other problem everything just freezes. Its been more than 30 days so I can't send it back. Additionally the so called pro service that comes included, did nothing for. After 3 chat sessions and 2 phone calls no one was able to help me with a logon problem I was having. That I had to figure out myself.
Only one problem
As advertised, this computer is fast and can handle multiple tasks. My only complaint is that it comes with Windows 8. That is definitely not user friendly! Too many apps, too many things "in your face"... Fortunately an app is available to create a traditional desktop, but overall it's frustrating. The Help function isn't much help at all-I find it easier to find information on the Internet. Love the computer, but hate the operating system!
Happy with purchase
Loving my pink 17" laptop, superfast. Had an HP notebook over heated all the time. So glad I purchased this computer.
I love the computer but I found out that you have to hold down the fn button and then touch your volume keys. I have a 4year old dell and I don't have to do that. I think who ever designed the volume keys to have to hold down the fn key before they will work was stupid. Why make something more work , it would have been easier for the customer not to have to do that. But it isn't worth sending it back because of that. Over all this is a great computer. It was worth getting.
I have my Dell 17 inch desktop for 10 years and I love it. It has plenty of memory, but it needs more speed. So I decided to try a dell 17 inch laptop. The dimensions of a 17 inch desktop and a 17 inch laptop are NOT the same and the resolution on my desktop is far SUPERIOR !!! I have called the tech support several times for assistance - sometimes they are cordial and sometimes they are NOT !!! They keep trying for me to have tech support on line and I keep explaining to them that I need to speak to the tech person while they are trying to resolve my issues. I am NOT pleased with how uncomfortable tech support makes me feel when I call. Why buy this computer from QVC if tech support gives me a hard time when I call. The good news is that I have until January to try this computer out.
My Pink Laptop!!
I've only had it a week but I can say I love ---
-- the color and the brushed aluminum finish,
--the size of the screen and keyboard,
--the feel of the keys when I type,
--the battery life is 2 days after on and off use and
--it doesn't get hot on my lap like my old HP!!!!
--lifetime anti-virus protection
This is my first Windows 8 and for the first 6 days, I've said I HATE Windows 8 many, many times. But I'm finally starting to get the hang of it a bit. Research the topic "I hate windows 8" and read what all comes up!!
I wanted to learn how to use Win8 before I started loading all the software that came with the laptop, as well as all my work software. I finally felt safe enough to begin that process last night. After loading the Anti-virus and the Photoshop that came with the laptop, I then tried to load the gDoc program that came with it. I kept getting error messages. After researching what those errors meant, I found where another QVC buyer of the same laptop had the same problem. The only solution was to restore the laptop to the factory default state and start over, and then to load the gDoc program first. That process took 4 hours. I do not know what causes the problem or who needs to fix it, but just be forewarned on that.
The multi-touch touchpad has given me a lot of trouble so I highly recommend using a mouse while learning Windows 8. Win8 is actually aimed at touchscreen computers so between the new OS and learning it and a touchpad that helps with all the new ways of maneuvering around in Win8 (putting the cursor in each corner or at top center make certain things happen, swiping from right to left and from top to bottom does certain things and the touchpad helps with all of that--if you know your way around Win8)!), you are always wondering "where'd that go?" or "why did that happen?!" or “where did that come from?!”
I am excited to get the processor speed, storage space and screen size for the price I paid. I have been shopping around for some time and am aware of what you can get for $900. The i7 was always recommended for heavy gamers while the i5 was said to be all I needed for my work programs: Quickbooks, MS Office, and internet usage; but with this laptop I got the higher speed for the same (even less) price of the i5 units! With my old laptop, I was staring at a circle going round and round while waiting for my programs to open, so I can’t wait to see how this laptop does when I get QB and Office loaded and start opening multiple windows and running multiple reports, etc. I’ll try to report back on that after a trial period. After all, that was the entire reason I purchased this new laptop!
I wish I could leave 10 stars!!
This is my first Dell computer. I will never go back to Mac! Ever!!!! I can't say enough about this purchase to say how happy I am with it! I bought the purple, my favorite color, and it's not a bright obnoxious purple. The features are amazing. All the software was a complete bonus! Tech support for the life of the computer! The price is a steal! Love, love, love it!!!
