Today, I am on QVC.com shopping for a new pressure cooker. I own this Cuisinart pressure cooker, but it has stopped working. I bought it just 16 months ago, and now, it is headed for the garbage dump. For full disclosure, I didn't buy it from QVC.
I filtered the pressure cookers on QVC.com to show the ones that have the best customer rating. I was shocked to see this one was rated the highest, since mine just like it had just stopped working, even though it was just 16 months old. We used it at least it 1 to 2 times a week. Before it stopped working, it made every cut of meat as tender as the best cut. Spending this much money on a product that stopped working in 16 months should NOT equate to this brand having the top rating of all the available pressure cookers. The instructions that came with it were not very good. My husband found more information on their website. Unlike some of the other brands, this one does not have buttons to push based on what you are cooking. You have to figure it out based on their instructions, which were not written very well. There is an inside part that fits inside the outer lid with a rubber gasket holding it in place, which is made of a very, very cheap material. It feels like the very light weight aluminum, just a little heaver that the material found in a throw away roasting pan. You have to be very careful with it because the quality is so bad. When my husband was opening the box for the first time, he picked up that cheaply made part and threw it into the stack of packing material. He didn't think something that cheaply made could possibly be part of a Cuisinart product, but it was. At that time, he said that something made of such poor quality wasn't going to last, and it seems that he was right.
Family and friends purchased this pressure cooker based on the meals they ate, which were cooked in it. The meals were so good, we could not imagine how we got by without a pressure cooker. Now, I have to buy a new cooker, and I have to tell them not to expect this cooker to work very long.
The first problem we had happened when we tried to brown something before we set it to pressure. After browning, my husband added some Au Jus mix and water before setting it to pressure. After a few minutes, it would start to pressurize before cutting itself off almost immediately. I read online that it would cut itself off if it overheated and someone posted a recommendation, which was to let it cool off between browning and pressurizing, which worked.
The last time it worked, it was set on high for 40 minutes, but when it was time to release the steam there was none to release. The light had just stopped blinking, so it should have still been pressurized. The meat had gotten tender, but not as teinder as it usually would get for that amount of time.
Today, we tried to brown stew meat before starting it to pressure. It never heated up. Now that my family is addicted to good meals cooked in a pressure cooker I'm back in the market for a new pressure cooker that is better quality.

This has simplified meal time. Love it. Would like to see this in a 10 quart. The control panel is so easy, I like this panel versus the preset buttons. Would like to see a slow cooking option. This has been wonderful.

As usual Cuisinart didn't disappoint! Every product I have of theirs outlasts others and hopefully this will do the same. I replaced another brand pressure cooker about 2 months ago with this one. So far everything is perfect. It takes few minutes longer to cook than other brands, but functions easier. I like the removable ring/inside top. It seems to hold the gasket ring in place better. Problem with others I had was cooker worked but ring stretched out in few months and couldn't get replacement so had to replace whole unit. The controls are easy to work and easy clean up. The metal handle does get hot, so be careful, use potholder when removing. Any recipe Blue Jean Cook has out works perfectly as well as others I've found.
Rated 4 out of 5 by crazyknitter GREAT QUALITY, BUT!!!!
This is a great pressure cooker. Very little sound from this when in use. My only problem, is, it's too large for two people. I will probably return for this reason. Just saw the 4qt TSV from Cooks Essentials. Ordered it but am skeptical regarding the price and quality. They usually don't last long. I am using a 6qt I bought about 8 years ago and I can adjust the pressure from 20 up to 80. None of the newer ones have this capability. Time will tell which one I keep. The Cusinart is quite large and takes up a large area on my counter. I ordered the cookbook, but all the recipes are for the 4 qt using the special settings. Just hope the Cooks Essential 4 qt holds up!!

This is a truly wonderful pressure cooker. It is easy to use and does a great job efficiently.
I have owned several models of pressure cookers in the past, some of which were defective and had to be returned.
The construction of this particular pressure cooker is so solid.
It was a nice surprise to find a separate metal rack inside.
I would recommend this item to anyone who like to pressure cook.

this is my second electric pressure cooker -- the quality of the Cuisinart is equal to none! easy to use; the 6 qt size is perfect. easy clean up -- nothing sticks to the cooker! I love the different settings (brown, warm, etc.) in addition to the high and low pressure cook settings. excellent price, too!
for the review below that had problems with it coming to pressure, make sure the pressure"tab" on the top is twisted to the pressure setting; otherwise, it will be on the release pressure setting and it won't build up the pressure to cook.
don't hesitate to purchase this unit! top quality and well worth every penny!

Yes this is expensive. Bought it on easy pay. Is it ever worth it! My husband has fallen in love with pressure cooking. We use it for anything you can imagine.
