Patience lead to a good tree I bought this last year- 2013- planted it in a container and after 2 months, it still looked like a stick. I almost pulled it out more than once but didn't for some reason ( probably just being lazy). I still watered it thinking what the heck. It paid off. It finally started to bud and produce leaves. It did bloom sparingly before winter came. This year it has leaved in April. It looks quite full already and I anticipate lots of blooms this summer. Glad I was being lazy and did not pull it out. I am quite pleased with it now and thinking of purchasing a second in a different color. 04-19-14
not a tree...a stick I ordered this tree in BLUE..guess what? It's not blue...go figure..and it's still just a stick, that got one bloom...not happy. 04-16-14
Gorgeous and Thriving! I have 2 of the Bluebird and 2 of the red Rose of Sharon Trees from Cottage Farms. The red on arrival had many more branches than the blue but planted them alternating colors on the west side of my house 3 years ago. The blues in second season quickly caught up with the red version and all four of them are thriving! Beautiful purple blue on the one version and pinky red on the other. They are all covered in blooms every season and are growing so full that we have to trim them back so they do not hang over the walkway. I absolutely love these and have never had to coddle them and have rarely even fertilized. I live in Washington state and they have survived snow in winter and lots of high winds and rainstorms as well. A gorgeous display of flowers through summer. Highly recommend these beauties. LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE. 03-23-14
Mine Were Not Blue I ordered one blue tree and the red one. Both of them were the whitish flower with a pink center. I got two replacements and again received the whitish flower with the pink center. 03-19-14
Did not grow I bought this tree almost three years back and it is still the same small size. After almost two years, we were advised to pull it up to wake up the roots. We moved it to a different location but it still did not grow. But the flowers are pretty when it blooms. 03-18-14
Abundance of blooms I've had this tree for 6 years. Because it is 4 feet next to the house, I've had to trim it every year for the last 4 years. It starts to bloom in August until the frost sets in. The pretty rich blue blooms are abundant. Good tree to have in your garden as a focal point, but give it at lease six feet around for spread space. Hurricane Sandy knock it over, two years ago, uprooting it, I replanted it and it still going strong. Tree branches out tight and full. Once establish drought tolerant. I have never directly fertilize it. I have Pachysandra planted at the base of the tree. I get plenty of compliments on this tree. If I had the room for a second one, I would not hesitate to buy. 02-10-14
Not blue I ordered this initially about 3 or 4 years ago. It wasn't blue, it was white. So I contacted QVC to contact the vendor and they replaced it with a new tree the next year. But of course it was NOT blue, it is peach colored. I really wanted a blue one. But I would not try it again. I have to say that the peach one which is in its third year now is really beautiful. It blooms and grows and is becoming a large tree. It really gets a lot of blossoms. But they are definitely peach, not blue. 02-10-14
Fooled Twice, Shame on Me! I have purchased many items from CF, and most have lived up to their reputations. Not so this blue hibiscus tree. I ordered it two years in a row and both years received a white tree. As others have stated, we order now, get it in May, blooms in August, and then....white! The first time this happened, I called QVC , and they were gracious enough to refund my cost. When this happened again last summer, once again, QVC assisted. What really bothered me was my response ( lack thereof) from Cottage Farms. I emailed them in August, when the first white bloom appeared, and.... I heard nothing. Almost two months later, I received a response that said the grower they received the tree from was having problems. What good is the best salesman on TV if the company cannot guarantee WHAT you order? My yard is small, and I carefully choose what I place in it. The blue hibiscus was chosen twice specifically for the color. While the white trees were healthy, they were not my order. I am so disappointed after this occurring twice, and the lack of any interest from CF, I will not be ordering anything else from them. I do appreciate QVC's assistance with my dissatisfaction. 01-31-14
Just like Philip said!!! This was my first year of retirement and I wanted to make the deck my sanctuary! Among other purchases from QVC I bought this beautiful tree. Planted it in a big barrel with some sunpatiens to accent the color. So beautiful!!! The blooms were exactly like the photo and were most abundant. I am a novice gardener and this was a real confidence builder! 01-24-14
DISSAPOINTED IN PRODUCT I ordered/received the Bluebird Rose of Sharon tree in 2012. As other customers have noted the tree wasn't blue, but white w/burg. center. It was slow in leafing out and took until August to bloom and you get so excited to see it and then it isn't what you ordered. I contacted Cottage Farms and they were very nice and said they had a batch that was marked wrong and they would send me another the following spring. I did receive another tree, but don't know what color it is as it leafed out, but NEVER bloomed. I contacted them again and was told that they didn't know why, but maybe it was the weather conditions, etc. and if it didn't bloom next year to contact them- Of course by then it will be way past the warranty. 01-21-14
need to mark colors in the field. I bought this tree 10 years ago. In 2 years it was beautiful , covered with BLUE flowers. We moved and every time I have ordered this since then They are either white or pink flowers. How difficult is it to MARK THE TREE starts in the field so the customer gets what they paid for? I will try one more order for a BLUE bluebird rose of sharon. If it is not blue it will be returned. 01-14-14
TERRIBLE TREE I bought 2 of these trees. One blue, one red. The blue one has a few leaves, after 1 month !! The red one I had to call & get a replacement for. The replacement is dead too !!!!!!! I am calling to get a refund !!! They do not in ANY WAY look like the ones on the presentation. I am VERY DISSAPOINTED !! I could have gone to the nursery down the street, but I bought from QVC instead because the presentation was so convincing !!! This is TOO MUCH MONEY TO WASTE !!! I would not recommend these trees to anyone !! 05-28-13
