I owned a mandoline once. The second time I nearly took my thumb off I threw it away. It is just too easy to have your hand slip off the safety. I still cringe when I see one. I took a chance on this because I really don't care for my Kitchen Aide for slicing. This machine is easier to set up and very safe to use. No matter what machine you use, it is messy. I wouldn't set this up just to slice 1 cucumber, but when cooking for a crowd, or making a pot of soup, this tool is perfect. All the vegetables come out uniform in size and make a nice presentation.

What a great addition to my kitchen tools! I choose to prepare from "scratch" and use very few prepared foods. This electric mandoline offers great versatility and is really easy to use and clean (and I do own a large food processor). I did read the instructions but being a visual learner, I got the most from the video provided by QVC.
I'm in my late 70s and have many arthritic joints. In a couple of weeks, I'm having surgery to replace the thumb joint in my dominant hand (the other was done some years ago) and have been stocking the freezer with prepared meals and soups. My hubby will be able to thaw and reheat. He's not much on cooking but is great on cleaning up. This tool has been quite a blessing and will continue to be so even after my hand repairs are done. Just this morning, I had to chop lots of veggies and am so grateful to have this device.
Thank you Meredith for bringing so many useful tools our way (I love my CE air fryer too!). Watching your demos let's me see right away how something works so I can determine its usefulness for me, and that's why I ordered this during the on-air demo.

It took a lot less time to slice veggies by hand. Too many pieces, just a mess. Hard to put it together. I sent it back.

I got this last fall, just about when I had a box full of green tomatoes and a recipe for green tomato marmalade. This made short work, and did a good job, of prepping all those tomatoes. Also good for crisp, firm veg like peppers, onions, carrots, zucchini. Not recommended for softer things like ripe (and I do not even mean overripe) tomatoes. Liquids get into the motor housing--can't get it clean. I did figure out to turn the machine bottoms up and let it drain onto paper toweling to get out the liquid, or most of it. So, a mixed success, but really good at what it does well.

I notice when using the product food gets down in the area where you put the piece that that holds the slicer/dicer blades, and you can't get in there and clean it very good,I have too use a q-tip and that still doesn't clean it very well, and the food sours down in there.

This mandolin is a life saver for someone with arthritis. That being said, it did take me a few times to catch on to putting it together. It cuts veggies and cheese with no problem. I expected the cheese to be too soft and not work but I was pleasantly surprised when cheese was cubed with no problem. I use it for daily kitchen tasks and used it a lot over the holidays when my family was here. I like the fact that all the blades store inside the container. Take time to learn how this machine operates and I think you will like it.

Worked like a dream. However clean-up is a nightmare! Removing all the parts and cleaning them was no problem. However, when I noticed the food had entered the motor part of the machine through the plastic/rubber protector? I can't get the food out! I used your brush, q-tips yet the food remains! Sending this machine back in hopes manufacturer can come up with a solution for those that purchased. This was Christmas Present.
