K5917 - Cook's Essentials 8 qt. Digital Pressure Cookerw/Accessories
Will they be offering this item ever again?
I have searched high and low and have not found a replacement. My has been used to death and is on its last leg after years of use. I bought a brand name one at an expensive price and it died at nine months. So I am looking again.
So I did dug out old trusty here and seems like it may not die forever. I am still looking for an 8 quart just like it for replacement. Please beg Cook's Essentials to manufacture more. Great for large families!
Loved It But...
I purchased this pressure cooker in August 07. I absolutely loved it. It was very easy to operate and produced excellent results. I could very easily cook from frozen in a matter of minutes and have a quick and delicious homecooked meal on the table for the family. Or, I could set it up in the morning and not bother with it all day and know that there would be a fabulous meal at dinner time. I literally used mine at least twice a week for two years. Unfortunately, mine bit the dust earlier this week..hence the 3 star rating. Excellent product but when I make an investment of this much money, I expect it to last much longer than 2 years.
I have had this cooker for awhile. Every thing that I cook in the presure cooker turns out wonderful. It is so very easy too use and very safe. Anyone who wants a good meal for their family and has a little time to make it should get this, meals are done in a very short time. The price is outstanding.
I Love this item....It is the BOMB. I use it everyday.
Comfort Food Cooker
We received this cooker a few days ago and were delighted that it is so easy to use & clean. My husband tried it out and says he expects we'll get a lot of good comfort food from it this winter season. I agree and I can't think of a better gift for the kids and grandkids this Christmas. Even tough cuts of meat come out juicy and tender. Thumbs up on this one!
A Must Have for Busy Moms
I LOVE this pressure cooker. It is the first one I have ever owned, but I can't imagine being without it! I have cooked numerous items in it since I got it and have loved everything!
Very versatile item!
I purchased this pressure cooker because of its dimensions. I wanted a cooker that I could fit jars in for canning vegetables plus I wanted a pressure cooker for making chicken and dumplings, ribs, roast, rice and soups. I wanted something versatile and this pressure cooker is that and more.
It sits large on the counter but it doesn't really get in my way. The controls on the front are easy for me to read. The insert could be a little easier to remove but I just wait for it to cool down a little and no problems. Non-stick makes for easy cleaning and I love the fact that the lid turns before it can be removed instead of just clamping on. Great extra safety feature.
This is my first electric pressure cooker but I've used a manual one for 30 years and, admittedly, do miss the jiggle but at least it has a small steam release noise to pacify me.
I love this pressure cooker! I've used it to pre-cook ribs, make swiss steak, cook corn-on-the-cob (works great for this job) and smoked ham shanks.
My main purpose for getting this cooker was to can garden vegetables. So far I've canned a lot of green beans and it's been really easy. Beware, if you're using quart jars you'll have to get the wide mouth jars and not the regular mouth jars. Why? Because the regular jars are just a tad too tall to fit in the pressure cooker. Three jars will fit just fine.
By the way, I've never used a pressure cooker before and had no problems following the instructions. I plan to use it for a lot of other dishes in the future.
I love this pressure cooker. It's so easy to use and works great. I love that it's also a steamer and a slow cooker. It also works great for hard boiled eggs! Great for any one who was afraid of the old pressure cookers.
I love this cooker. I have had it four days and used it twice! What a time saver, and the food, wow. The meat comes out so tender, just perfect. The size is a great atvantage too. My husband could not believe how quickly it cooked. This is a must for every household. Thanks QVC, you get a top rating for this item from me.
A Great Pressure Cooker
What made me buy this unit originally was the fact that my other pressure cooker is a stove top kind with the "jiggle valve." This Cook's Essentials 8qt. is approximately 14" high and 13" wide, and I thought it big enough to make a gallon of soup.
My only problem was trying to fit the lid on the cooker. The directions don't explain or illustrate how. After several attempts I figured out the handles on both the lid and the cooker have to line up. Once I figured that out, using the pressure cooker was a breeze.
When I first saw the cook pot insert I was a little disappointed (it's 10" wide and 7" high). I've used it twice since receiving it yesterday, and I must say the unit is big enough for my needs. The first time I boiled 6 chicken thighs with vegetables and just now made mashed potatoes. The unit reached high pressure in about 15 minutes and cool down took approximately another 15 minutes. The pressure valve can be lifted up for quicker release of pressure.
I think I will get many good uses from this pressure cooker. It is money well spent.
great way to cook
I had trouble getting the lid on the first time. Once I used it I could not believe how fast every thing cooked and how great it taste. One suggestion to every one who has one of these products, make sure every item you need for the recipe is all ready chopped and ready to go. Once you put this thing on to brown every thing goes real fast just add each item and your meal will be done in mintues.
