Was so excited to get this , but while the Cooker does a great job cooking ... the insert started peeling and shedding its coating after the first use. Scratches easily despite only using silicone/made-for-nonstick utensils and soft cloths for cleaning. Very disappointed in my first Cooks Essential appliance purchase. Sadly have to return it.

I had never had a slow cooker and was looking forward to receiving this. The color is beautiful, green. The wire was not tied up and it looked like it was a return and not packaged properly when they sent it to me. I also got a paper return label and that's not usually the case. Anyway, there's a lot of complaints about the inside not being made well so it scratches easily. It was not easy to use and the instruction booklet was not very helpful. I had to go online to figure out how to use it. After putting my 3 lb turkey roast in and basting it with oil I added spices and 1/2 cup of chicken stock as Per the recipe and set it for 3 hrs to start. Really wasn't sure what I was suppose to set it on or if I should bake or roast. I picked roast. After a 1/2 hour all the liquid was gone and it was sizzling. I added more chicken stock. Then decided maybe I should use roasting pan so I set it on top of that. I also wanted potatoes and carrots so I just added them in. Didn't know when I was suppose to do that. Well I'm waiting to see how it goes but have made my mind up already to send it back. I am going to try the Ninja cooker. It looks like the front of it is clearer in instruction. I will let u know.

I'm looking for this to be made with a travel lid system. That would be so much easier for pot lucks.

I purchased the CooksEssential cooker after my multi-cooker that I purchased on the 'other' channel by the famous Australian chef died after only a year. CUSTOMIZABLE COOKING SETTINGS: The Cooks Essentials cooker has many more features than my other one did. I love the quick pre-sets that allow you to bake, saute, slow-cook etc at a touch of a button, but I especially love that this cooker gives you the option to also customize your cooking by allowing you to raise the time and temperature to your liking. Last night I sauted (browned) a pork loin roast prior to slow cooking. It came out great (see pictures). This machine is powerful enough to get a great, seared crust on the meat before slow cooking. CLEANUP: The inner crock is lightweight for easy removal and washes up easily in the sink. The non-stick coating does its job in terms of preventing foods from sticking (even after searing at 425 degrees). LID: I love this lid. The handle is made of a thick plastic that doesn't get hot but what's best about the lid is that the plastic extends ONTO the tempered glass lid which prevents the backside of your fingers from getting burnt on the hot lid when you are gripping the handle. This is a nice touch. SLOW COOKER CONDENSATION: The vent on this lid seems to reduce the condensation buildup that typically occurs when you slow-cook. I did get some, but not as much as with any of my other slow cookers or multi-cookers. NON-STICK COATING - I'm not confident that this coating is going to last. I used a plastic spatula to turn my meat and noticed a mark in the non-stick coating already. This is the only reason I didn't give this product a 5 star rating. NOTE: The first time you use this machine, it lets off a faint funky, chemical smell. At first I thought I forgot to remove some packaging material but then read in the manual that it's just a harmless protective coating they put on the heating element. After about an hour...the smell went away.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Warren b CooksEssentials 6.5 at 9 function all-in1 Cooker
This cooker is very limited to what size meat you can cook in it. The lid is flat. I had to use aluminum foil to cover a ham I cooked. I would not recommend this cooker. Very disappointed

Great cooker..nice, large size..insert seems defective as the coating comes off so easily. Wouldn't recommend until this problem is resolved to my satisfaction. This purchase turned out to be an expensive mistake.
Rated 5 out of 5 by angela8hope Best Purchase with Non-Stick
This order came before the EDD. The non-stick coating was intact. I washed it before using with a wash cloth and the non-stick stayed. Yay! I steamed some oatmeal in it. The lid kept making noise because the steam was making the lid move around. I steam now without the lid on the 6.5 qt. all-in-1 cooker, I just use the lid on the containers that I'm steaming the food in. This works great for me. My water is hard, so I used distilled bottle water or purified water to steam in. This way the inner pan doesn't have white markings around it after I've steamed something. The white markings may be because of hard water. That's just what I think.
I returned the first 6.5 qt. all-in-1 cooker because after I washed it with a wash cloth upon receiving it, the non-stick was coming off in several places. I think that it may be a defect in that item.
I would recommend washing this item and using it as soon as you get it, to see that the non-stick is intact; and before the 30 days expire for returning it.
I'm well pleased with this order and will be using it everyday. It helps me while recovering from surgery.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Pitbull Scratches Extremely Easily
Like other reviewers, I have been absolutely diligent about using only silicone or nylon utensils, but the nonstick coating sratches HORRIBLY! It's a real shame because the cooker functions well and has all the desired features. Mine arrived with 2 small dents on the exterior, but I opted to keep it anyway. The glass lid doesn't really fit very snuggly and it would be nice to have a way to secure it for transport, but I didn't expect that. I will use it, but don't expect the inner pot's terrible nonstick coating to last long at all. It's disappointing to have a functional multicooker ruined by its inexcusably cheap insert, I will NEVER waste another penny on a Cook's Essential item. Shame.
