CooksEssentials 5.25 qt. Square Digital Nonstick Pressure Cooker
Worst Product I ever bought!!
I ordered this as a Christmas gift from my sister, and boy am I ever sorry!!! I just tried it for the first time today, Feb. 1. I put in a 2.5 pound roast, which I had to chop up to get it to fit in there, and after 7 hours of cooking it still isn't done. I was going to put it on for a few more hours, but there is NO WAY the lid will go on. I fought with it for over a half hour and STILL can't get it to go on. It is a horrible design. As soon as I can find a box it will fit in, it's going back. DO NOT BUY THIS...YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!
Best purchase ever
You will love this one. Very quiet. Cook very good brown a Porkchop cook for 15 minutes eat your heart out. Cabbage in three minutes.
I bought this product because I don't often pressure cook but I was impressed by it's multi-functionality. Ability to brown and then pressure cook in one pot. There is also the ability to keep foods warm, slow cook and steam in one unit. Everything I have used this product for has produced excellent results. It's easy to clean and easy to use.
If It Worked I'd Give it More Stars
I shop QVC frequently and have for years, but have never written a review until now. We have been wanting an electric pressure cooker, so after reading reviews (none were perfect) I selected this one. During the initial test:, it never reached full pressure. It would only get to 10 psi or so and then drop. Am returning; looking at Emeril's 6 qt from another source now.
Works for me
I have cooked several things in it beef ribs, whole fryer chicken over 4 lbs no complaints here.
I find it to be durable. cooks essentials has always been a good line
This heavy, large piece of equipment advertised as over 5 quarts actually has only about 2 quarts of usuable cooking space. The recipe book with it calls for a 5 lb chicken to start chicken soup. My 3.5 lb. chicken well exceeding the entire cooking space. Further, it did not maintain the correct pressure. I returned it and purchased a 6 quart machine elsewhere with which I've had no problems.
Pressure Cooker Wow
Oh My Gosh! I bought this pressure cooker about 1 month ago. What a great buy! I have used this more than I use my stove or oven, as a matter of fact I just dust my stove now. This is the best thing since Cotton Candy!
I am very pleased with it and I don't even feel like I'm cooking its so fast and easy!
Thank you for having it..
And It Can Slow Cook Too
This is my second electric pressure cooker, so I'm familiar with them. I threw out the first one, from a very well known competitor, because it didn't have enough settings and things weren't marked well, so if I hadn't used it in a while I'd always have to go hunt for the manual again and I always had to guess if I had it on pressure or steam or whether it was really locked or not. Problems solved here with huge permanent white letters on black lid STEAM PRESSURE with a moving handle to move to one or the other. Great for an older guy like me. Square shape is great. I had browsed several other cookers on QVC and chose this one because of the many settings available. While I don't slow cook too often, this one will allow me to do so, so that was a deal maker and I've also tossed the old heavy clunky slow cooker. Price great, got it in the red. Only thing is, when I download separate cookbooks onto my Kindle and they give recipes for dessert things like cheeecakes or brownies, I can't imagine what small size round pans would fit into this unit, and don't know if CooksEssentials site itself could inform me of that, but that is hardly a priority.
Love this pressure cooker! Much better than the stove top ones that everyone seems to have. Just the perfect size too.
Ok Pressure Cooker
My pressure cooker died, and I had to have another - I purchased this one because of the size and easy pay. I'm not to thrilled. It cooks fine, but the buttons are hard to push, and the lid doesn't always seat properly, I think this has to do with the square shape. I can get it to work, and when it does, it works well, but when it doesn't - well let's just say I'm saving my pennies for a different style.
Lots of Fun
I have a new daughter-in-law who is a wonderful cook and grew up using a pressure cooker. Without her expertise and recommendations, I wouldn't have purchased one but I must admit, I've always been curious. Wow! What a pleasant surprise! I assumed the food cooked in a pressure cooker would be blah...more like most slow cooking (not to be confused with braising). First of all, in this model you can brown (which IS more like braising!). This adds more flavor. It is convenient, all in one pot. It is amazingly fast...dried bean dishes finished in under an hour with no previous soaking and super yummy!
My husband is an excellent cook. Even he is looking forward to experimenting with infusing lots of flavors in dishes like chile's, soups and veggies. We were surprised at how "fresh" and flavor layered a dish be, not mushy at all.
Easy storage because of the shape. Easy clean up as well.
This appliance has been an unexpected surprise, easy to use and lots of fun. Go for it!
glad I chose this product
This pressure cooker is very user friendly. Easy to clean. I can pressure cook my meat and leave it will automatically go to warm for 8hrs. Love it. Highly recommend. Thanks again. QVC
