K5963 - Cook's Essentials 5qt Digital Pressure Cooker w/ Accessories
3 years and kaput
Bought this product three years ago. Mind you I didn't use it right out of the box. Had it in my closet for about a year before using it. I cooked in it about 7 times maybe? Had company over wanted to cook something fast and nothing. I must say before then it worked like a dream. I just expected more out of it for the price $96 plus shipping handling and tax!
Faulty pressure knob
This is the second time the pressure knob broke.
Broken Float Valve!
I have only used this item about 7 times ... took it out (stored very carefully), and the pressure valve is broken off inside ... the plastic piece is broken in several places, and when my husband removed the part, it's as if the plastic is defective because it's very frail in other areas where it broke easily in other areas as well. The whole piece literally disintegrated ... will try to return that part tomorrow to the manufacturer for a new one.
Maker should do all future repairs!
I've enjoyed this product almost daily for 3 1/2 years. Sadly the cord has worn itself out at the point where it attaches to the pot. Called the Manufacturer and was told they don't repair beyond the warranty date. How sad for me. I have to find someone who can hopefully repair it and pray it'll be safe to continue it's use!
Loved It But It didn't Last
I absolutely loved this item and used it at least weekly for a little over a year. Then one day when I got it out to use it the entire pressure valve unit was broke off. It was an internal break not caused by storage method etc... I was quite disappointed, I can remember my mother having a pressure cooker from the 50's that she still uses today. I think for the money this should have lasted more then a couple of months past it's limited warranty.
bought this it worked for a short time, sent it back and received another, that worked for a short time also, I should have returned it and now I am stuck with it.
If you are a busy Mom or Dad then you need to buy this pressure cooker. You can cook a fast and healthy meal in the time it takes you to go around and take orders for everyone for take-out. I have used this just about every day since I got it 3 months ago.
PARTS BROKE OFF
HAVE HAD THE PRODUCT ABOUT 2 YEARS. REALLY LOVE THE PRODUCT ITSELF AND THE FOOD IT PUTS OUT, BUT AFTER ABOUT 6 MONTHS THE TIP FROM THE PRESSURE RELEASE BROKE OFF.
I DON'T USE IT VERY OFTEN ANYMORE BECAUSE I BURN MYSELF EVERYTIME I USE IT. FOR THE PRICE I JUST WISH IT WAS A BETTER QUALITY.
I was so excited - finally an appliance I was proud to keep on my shelf. I was telling everyone it was time to get back to pressure cooking - but not so much now. I owned and used it just a little over a year and then the pressure release valve just broke into several little pieces. Without the valve there was no way it could hold the pressure therefore no pressure cooking. I keep thinking I am going to try another one - maybe they have improved it but it does not appear so. The valve needs to be made out of steel not plastic!
Doesn't last long !!
I have been pressure cooking for more than 30 years, but always with the stove type cooker. I purchased this cooker approximately 18 months ago for both myself and my newly married daughter. Yes, it is a wonderful way to cook your favorite family meals, but I'm not so sure that I would recommend this particular brand. My daughter has had problems with this since she received it. And, yes, I taught her exactly how to use it. Not only is the nonstick coating wearing off, but the actual temperature of her machine is so high that it burns the bottom of the food, even on low pressure. Also, the pressure release knob is always falling off. I have not had these problems until just recently. I made a batch of chili, as I have been making it all these
years , and the machine burned the bottom of the food. I don't know what to call it in electrical terms, but I believe the heat processing component may need to be tweaked in this machine. I would expect that something that you pay this amount of money for should last longer than it did for both of us. I am now looking for a replacement for both of us, but it will be one with at least a 3 year warranty. Ruining a good meal because of a faulty heating mechanism is NOT an option in this family !
GREAT WHILE IT LASTED!
Love the entire pressure cooking experience; however, the product only lasted a
little over a year! I'm afraid to buy another one. After researching other avenues,
it appears this is the same cooker available labeled as Deni or Nesco. Both good names.
Miss pressure cooking but can afford almost $100 a year to do it!
I have had my cooker for about a year now. I love it. It is easy to use and food tastes great. Not to mention the fact that I don't have to worry about movement in the kitchen and having the knob blow off. Great product and I will be getting another one similar to this one. I have noticed that it takes a little longer for a roast than I had expected but I found that when I cut the roast into smaller pieces that it takes an hour to be tender. I just couldn't be happier.
