"Come Home to Supper" Cookbook by Christy Jordan
I love this cookbook. It not only has great recipes but it is wonderful to read. I love cookbooks and I buy a lot of them. This us the only one I read as I went. I like the recipes they are good downhome ingredients which you might have. As I said, I love it
come home to supper
Items in it are just not new and can be found in other basic books
Need Alternative Ingredient List
I enjoyed reading this as a book written and beautifully presented, by a very fortunate woman. But the comments "flat out" dismissing seafood were annoying to me. The author could have tried to make this a more well rounded cookbook. I have tagged many of the recipes to try. However, the very fattening and sugar heavy recipes, should have included alternatives ingredients. Especially when dozens of eggs, milk, cheese and meats are so costly and harmful to us now. I will search for and incorporate from other published cooks the revisions needed to create healthier "comfort" dishes. Or I may just buy the comfort food cookbook that is for today's families.
Good for non-cooks
I love cookbooks that you cook from scratch. I try to avoid using store bought items to make my meals with. I'm a generation too old for this book but youngsters learning to cook today might love it. Great for beginners not so good for women who garden and can so they can put healthy food on the table. I will be returning this book.
Have many recipes flagged to try, and I'm so excited. Company coming for supper, and we will try the cola pork chops. Southern recipes are a delightful surprise for us yankees, and they open up new and wonderful worlds for us.
Real Life Cook Book!
There are so many cook books out there which SAY they are designed for the busy cook, and then turn out to have exotic recipes with ingredients no one actually keeps on hand. This is not one of them, thank goodness! Christy has another wonderful cook book to her credit. I have her first one, all splotched up because I am not a neat cook:) "Come Home to Supper" will wind up the same way! No higher praise for a cook book! Keep it up, Christy!
I am surprised at the lukewarm reviews. I love this cookbook! Took me about a week to read it cover to cover. I put little post-it notes on all the recipes i want to try and can't wait to start cooking. Yes some of the ingredients are pretty basic but that's what I love about it i don't need to go shopping for any odd ingredients!
If you are on the fence just get it I think you will be pleasantly surprised. And i like all of her little stories too!
my daughter in law is someone who cooks, but not from scratch. I bought the book and gave it to her and she has all kinds of things she wants to try. you have to remember that women today do not have time to spend in the kitchen like the older generation. i stayed at home and had time to spend in the kitchen these gals today work and then try to come home and cook a meal that won't take long. i think this book is a great help for them.
Cookbook An Insult to the Cook
Over hyped on tv. I was looking forward to some unique recipes. This cookbook was an insult to the buyer. Anyone could have written this. No recipes were in it that average families don't make already that don't need a recipe. A complete waste of money.
Sorry I didn't return this book
I am really disappointed with the book. Recipes do not live up to the presentation. The roasts have not been good. Very disappointed. The Temptations cook book was a much better purchase. Save your money.
One of the Best Cookbooks Ever!!!!!
This is a wonderful book, obviously filled with love of life, family - and of course, good food!
I Like this Cookbook!
I found the cookbook to be comforting in its sayings and recipes. I am an average home cook and I found several ideas that will work for my family. Thank you Cindy Jordan!
