Care Guide

Care Guide

My jewelry features only sterling and genuine gemstones. I hope you enjoy your new pieces for years to come, and I'd like to recommend the following care and handling instructions.

Like all fine jewelry, these pieces should be handled carefully. It's best to store them in a plastic bag. Simply clean your sterling silver with a silver polishing cloth as necessary. I don't recommend subjecting your jewelry to any chemical solutions or ultrasonic cleaners.

About Amethyst

Stone Information & Mining

Amethyst is the purple variety of the quartz mineral species. It's the gem that's most commonly associated with the color purple, even though there are other purple gemstones such as sapphire and tanzanite. Its purple color can be cool and bluish, or a reddish purple that's sometimes referred to as "raspberry."

Legend & Lore

Because of its wine-like color, early Greek legends associated amethyst with Bacchus, the god of wine. Other legends reflected beliefs that amethyst kept its wearer clear-headed and quick-witted in battle and in business affairs. Fine amethysts have been set in religious jewelry and royal crown jewels for ages. It was once considered equal in value to ruby, emerald, and sapphire. It's no wonder that fine amethyst adorns the fingers of bishops as well as the coronation regalia of British royalty.

Amethyst's purple color can range from a light lilac to a deep, intense royal purple and from brownish to vivid. Amethyst also commonly shows what is called color zoning, which in the case of amethyst usually consists of angular zones of darker to lighter color.

Amethyst can be safely cleaned with warm soapy water. Ultrasonic cleaners are usually safe except in the rare instances where a stone is dyed or treated by fracture filling. Steam cleaning is not recommended, and amethyst should not be subjected to heat.

Carolyn Pollack ChangingSeasons Sterling Set of 2 Bead Bracelet 3.2 5 20 20
Nice accent to the Changing Seasons Cuff. I picked up the blue set to accent the cuff as I had purchased the blue Changing Seasons Cuff and like the way it changed the look. When these went on sale I came back for more colors. I only wish I was fast enough to have picked up the purple set. I wouldn't wear these alone as they are not large enough but mixed in with the original cuff as intended they are very nice addition to the jewelry wardrobe. 10-05-14
Nice Bracelets but Overpriced These bracelets are nice but are very overpriced even at the clearance price for what you get. You definitely need to wear both at the same time or you may not even see it, almost like jewelry for a child. I got the rhodonite and will wear them in the summer. I like the ease and flexibility of these bracelets and they can be stacked well with other bracelets. I would get the sodalite but not at these prices. 05-04-14
Not a good value I had read in the reviews that this could be worn on it's own so I tried it but don't have the rest of the set. Disagree. This has little small beads - no weight and too much money for what you get. I own sodalite in other pieces and have earrings with bigger beads on them - and they were half the sale price from elsewhere. And it isn't nearly as expensive as lapis - even cheap lapis should have larger beads. You can't tell the silver ones from the blue they're so small. Note too that this barely fit my 6 3/4" wrist so maybe that's due to it being styled as an inset - just use caution if you have an average wrist or larger - this will not work on it' s own without taking to a jeweler and adding a security chain & clasp which means more $$. Used to buy a lot of CP but now I feel like I'm only paying to keep her rich - value isn't there anymore. Her pieces were always pricey but now are too expensive for what you get. My budget has room for quality and I think this has it - so I took a chance. Also don't care for the other metals CP & other designers are using now that silver & gold went up (love the look but too hard to keep bronze & copper from looking tarnished) however silver prices are coming down & QVC prices aren't dropping with it. I will just wait or buy stainless instead. Will keep the another piece I ordered the same time from Carolyn as it is a better value. 03-15-14
Love the flexibility I didn't purchase these until they had gone on clearance, because I thought the price was too high. I'm glad I was able to buy them though, they add a nice mix-and-match versatility to the Changing Seasons cuff set. I own two of those in the blue color, plus the silver scroll cuff inset, and the autumn colored cuff inset. I love the way you can mix these up. I had no problem getting my bead bracelets on the Changing Seasons cuff, they slid right on, and even though they're a slightly different height than the rest of the bracelet, I think that makes it look more like individual stacked cuffs. I ordered the Tiger's Eye which looks exactly like the picture online, and I ordered the Sodalite, which is a little lighter and prettier in person - very denim friendly. These bracelets can also be worn by themselves, you don't have to add them to the Changing Seasons cuff set. 09-19-13
need longer bars I thought when I ordered these that I could add them to my cuff without having to remove any of the other beads, but I had to remove the silver beads to put on these new beads. We need longer bars! 06-03-12
Nice, but... I ordered three of the colors, and very probably will come back for the other three colors. I purchased the Changing Seasons Cuff TSV, and these sets make many more options possible. Yes, the beads are small, but they were intended to be stacked into the cuff, not worn alone. They give just enough additional width and color to the main cuff bracelet. I only gave 4 stars for two reasons: 1. I think the price is a bit high, and 2. I had to ream out the holes in order to get them to fit on the stainless steel bars. 03-04-12
goes well with the Changing Seasons Cuff Bracelet I have to agree with other reviews as the bracelets don't quite fit into the Changing Seasons Cuff bracelet. However, I was able to adjust the bend radius and now they fit fine. I will order more colors as I do like to stack my bracelets. Because of the one minor flaw I gave this set 4 stars. 03-01-12
Carolyn's Changing Scenes Bracelet I am so pleased with the Changing Scenes bracelet and the versatility of changing the beads in between. I travel a great deal and this allows me to only carry a few jewelry items. All of Carolyn's items are gorgeous and this takes the cake!!!! Everything Matches! 02-29-12
A bit disappointed I have to agree with alot of the others...the smaller bead inserts do not fit properly. I love the concept and the ability to change out the colors but they need to fit better. I have a hard time getting the balls to screw on the post too...need longer post. 02-28-12
disappointing This is the first piece I have ordered that I was disappointed in. I ordered the orange carnelian and the color was dull and very light. Too expensive for what I rececieved. 02-28-12
Not up to Usual Standard I have found Carolyn Pollack's jewelry to be of a high standard and have many of her pieces. However, this product I feel is way below her usual quality. The two bead bracelets do nothing to add to the basic cuff bracelet. They're very flimsy and cheap looking, in my opinion. 02-25-12
Very pretty for PETITES Finally something for petite wrists, thanks Carolyn! I like these a lot and will probably wear them most often as stand alone pieces instead of with all of the others that came with the collection. Yes the stones are small, but if you read the description it states both measure 1/4", so I knew what I was getting and wish I could have at least 2 more colors. I bought the Amozonite even though it is not included in my TSV set - I wear it with the Changing Seasons ring which looks great on an index finger. I would love to have them in yellow quartize and blue lace agate for the pastels - those 2 colors get a little lost and having more of these dainty beads would be great! Thanks Carolyn and Q for a great TSV and for a bracelet that looks perfect on petites! MaryinMinn P.S. CAROLYN: HOW 'BOUT SOMETHING TO REPRESENT YOUR HOME STATE OF MINNESOTA SOME DAY? 02-25-12
