Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice camera I purchased this in Dec of 2015 and I didn't know it at the time but it was defective. Whenever I would hold my finger down to take many pictures at a time it would start out taking them fast and then get slower and slower and then to the point I would have to stop taking the pictures. I'm sending it in for repair and hope that will help. This is a nice camera but I don't know if I will ever master it. I have been taking pictures for over 40 years with all types of point and shoot cameras but this camera I can take pictures, with the same setting, and one will turn out good and the other one is terrible. I don't know what the problem is. I have researched the settings for different types of pictures and I still can't master it. I would recommend this camera to someone that wants to spend ALL their time trying to master it. 09-29-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great little camera Very compact, easy to carry around everywhere I go, fits easily in my bag. Good image quality, and also compatible with old ef lenses without issue. And its light weight makes hours of shooting way less straining. 07-25-16

Rated 5 out of 5 by Small, but perfect for stills and video! I am a professional photographer using all Canon cameras and lenses. I needed a capable camera that would be small enough to take along with me always that can use my professional quality lenses. The cost and abilities of the SL1 made sense to me, and I have been very happy. I use the camera for everyday use because I wanted full manual control and point and shoots just don't let me do that. I also wanted a camera capable of shooting video in manual. This camera is just what I needed. Images are sharp, video recording is very easy. Get a couple of extra batteries if you do video. 06-16-16
Rated 3 out of 5 by May be a good one for starter just got my first DSLR. I have been using different DSLR from different friends before. the camera is really handy and small. pic quality depends more on lens rather then the camera itself. The viewfinder is too small to be comfortable. For new user, who basically want to do good family photography its an excellent choice in your budget. 05-19-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Buy This camera was given to me as a Christmas gift after using a Sony for part time, on the side fun. But holy cow did this little beauty ignite a world of opportunity. I am very young and this was the perfect beginners camera for anybody wishing to pursue photography in any shape or form. It's incredibly lightweight and small, and by looking at it based on that premise, no way could anybody imagine what this camera is capable of. It takes excellent images in automatic function, but even better in manual (of course if you're aware of how to use manual). Images come out crisp, colorful, and beautiful. I can't stress enough how user friendly it is, but while still maintaining close to professional grade images. The SL1 has jumpstarted business for me and I will be shooting my first wedding next month using this camera. Canon has definitely snagged themselves a new lifetime customer. 03-31-16
