Canon EOS 7D DSLR 18MP Camera with 28-135mm Lens & HD Video
A fine DSLR, but not for me
I noticed that all the reviews up for the 7D are five star and praise it very highly--well, I am about to break that mold. Don't get me wrong, Canon makes fine cameras of all types from point and shoots up to sophisticated cinematic cameras. My first digital camera was a Canon purchased eight years ago. I currently own two other Canon cameras. That being said, I was very excited about purchasing the 7D. I had read many reviews and discussed it with photographer friends. When it arrived, I decided that I would give it the full 30 days that QVC allows to see if it was indeed the camera I wanted and needed. Alas, I have ended up returning it and ordering a 70D instead. Here is why: First of all, while the 7D is indeed solidly constructed it is very heavy and I found it to be uncomfortable around my neck for prolonged periods of time. I will often shoot photos for 2-3 hours at a time, and between the weight of the camera body and the 28-135 lens it was becoming painful. Speaking of the lens, I was not happy with the way it would "creep" when held either straight up or down. Something else I did not like, and found to be very strange, was that the controls on the back of the camera are on the left side. I found this to be very confusing and counterintuitive, especially since all my other Canons have their controls on the right hand side. And, finally, I thought the 7D, unless you had it on Creative Auto mode, was just plain confusing to use. Just trying to do the initial setup with the time and date settings was a little crazy. Unless you read the manual it is not, to me, a camera you can take right out of the box and use immediately. And, if you want to go beyond basic shooting and, say, change your picture style to monochrome or use a color filter setting, you'd better be prepared to stick your nose in that manual. It has a very steep learning curve for someone like me who likes to change settings and be creative. That is just MY personal opinion. For someone else it may work perfectly fine. I shoot a lot of wildlife, mostly birds, so I don't have time to stumble around figuring out how to change settings.
Upon opening my Canon 7d I noticed that the body of the camera was not in its little bubble wrap bag. Upon powering the camera on, it immediately displayed a firmware error message. Needless to say I am sending it back and have ordered a second one hoping it will be ok. This is the first issue I have had with any camera I have ordered from QVC.
Best Camera Choice Ever
The Canon EOS 7D DSLR 18MP Camera with 28-135mm Lens & HD Video is the Best Camera Choice Ever. I decided to purchase this camera on the recommendation of a friend who is a professional photographer and a digital image artist; she recommend this camera to me mainly because of its incredible HD video, its ease of use, and its durability. This camera is the best one for serious and semi-professional photographers with its amazing picture quality and that fact that while it has a boat load of features it is also simple to use. So far this camera is working out great for me and I am glad I got it before I went to the Bahamas I now have some stunning pictures to remember my vacation and I am looking forward to my intermediate level photography class now that I have a quality camera.
Great camera for beginner to intermediate user!
This camera was recommended to me by several people in my local photography club and a work user's group as a great beginner to intermediate photographer who wants to have both a basic camera and alot of features to learn and use over time. I bought it for my husband for Christmas and he is really enjoying using it and learning new things. He plans to take a class in January on photography so this camera will really help him. I highly recommend this camera. On a side note, I did have a problem with it out of the box, but I called Canon customer service and they had the problem resolved within about 20 minutes by downloading a new firmware image and helping me to install it on the camera. I am confident in both the camera and Canon support services.
When I was looking for a new camera to buy, I must have looked over 10 different dslr. I look at canons, nikon, and sony. It wasn't until I went and read some reviews from professional user did I even consider looking at the 7d. Because of it dual digic 4 and its 8fps shooting it convince me to try it, and boy i am glad i got it. The price was kind of expensive and i had my doubts about it. When it finally got here i spent most of days testing the camera and wow I was stun by the picture. Not only was the picture stunning but the video took my breath away. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone,
Thanks for the 6 easy payments option. Awesome camera, have only had it a few days but loving it. Crisp clear sharp pictures. Not complicated but does have a slight learning curve to it. Overall an awesome camera. Ive been using a T4I, this is a huge improvement. LIghtning quick to.
The BEST camera
Thank you qvc for offering this camera on easy pay.if not for easy pay I wouldnt b posting this review. Dont think this camera is to complicated. The pictures are incredible.the camera works with you and for you.thx again.
Simply put, an excellent DSLR.
The Canon EOS 7D is, simply put, an excellent DSLR and as far as I am concerned the cream of the crop in it's class. To be sure, it is somewhat expensive but the investment will pay off for years to come for anyone looking for a mid level DSLR that boasts so many professional features. There is also a bit steep learning curve to the camera so be sure to read the included instruction manual or one of the many available books and guides covering this camera before diving into it. From my brief use of the camera I must say I am thoroughly impressed with the performance and the quality of the images it produces. The build and feel of the camera suggests that it is one tough cookie to be reckoned with. Highly recommended.
i had the canon 7d as ordered and it was really cool, have to recommend same to friends. i find QVC most trusting in almost all the things i needed. thanks to QVC
dreaming about it
my friend had this for over a year, truly proffesional photos ,nice camera, I hope Qvc will do the HOT PICK with low payments on it:)))))))))))))))))
Great camera. Had it for about a year now. Originally brought it as a backup and to shoot video. But it's image is very clean and detailed and compared favorably to my main camera which was many $$$$ more than this--which is in itself amazing. Add in the sensor cleaning and no more cleaning up dust spots in post (a real time saver).
The video quality is very nice--you'll want to use top quality lenses though because the difference is highly noticeable.
I'm actually considering getting a second one.
The only question here is when will Canon come out with an upgrade, these particular cameras have basically the same technology (tweaked depending on the model) for over 3 years and new models seemingly around the corner promise to bring more features but for now it's all just speculation.
This camera is a BEAST! I don't write many reviews but I had to for this camera. This is my first DSLR and I was a little apprehensive about getting such an expensive model. I am what you would consider a novice when it comes to cameras. My previous camera was my Thunderbolt cell phone camera. I wanted to buy a good camera that took really good pictures and also one that I wouldn't be jealous of my friends DSLR's. I knew that it was expensive but the reviews I read on other sites praised the capability of the EOS 7D so I knew I would always want it even if I bought the T2i or the 60D.
My learning curve was not that bad since the auto setting took care of the hard work. With a few online tips I've been able to take wonderful pictures using the manual settings. The video mode is exceptional also. My Vegas videos of Treasure Island and the Bellagio water shows were superb. I could go on and on. I love this camera
