Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perspective I am a beginner at film and photography so of course the internet has been my biggest resource in gathering the information I need to get the job done. Well after using my kit lens on my Canon 750D for a while learning it's ins and outs I started to look into what lenses were created for what purpose. I must say the raving reviews about this lens online are all true. I could have purchased it for $125 but a few extra bucks to spread the payments do not hurt to have this in my hands. I am a believer in this lens. No zoom since its a prime lens I believe. (Still learning terms) However, the sharp nature of the pictures and the auto-focus speed plus clarity make for great shots in less time. This lens requires you to move to zoom and I love it because it gives me the feels of a pro photographer. The bokeh is smooth and the subject of the picture is present. I recommend this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT 4 VIDEO If you like shooting video with your DSLR and you use a 50mm lens; the STM focusing system is very quiet & smooth. The on-board mics won't pickup any noise from the STM lenses. Happy shooting!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice I'm writing this review for my mother because I'm the one who actually tested the lens out for her before she comes down to visit in a couple of weeks. She had it sent to my house so it would be here when she arrived. I have the old nifty 50mm, so I knew she would like this one. I wish it was mines, but I know she's probably going to take it back with her when she goes back home to NYC. It's pretty much the same lens as the old one, but with quitter focusing and a METAL lens mount! At f1.8 it has nice bokeh and you get macro like shots at close focus. Anyone who wants to take pictures that look the pros, but on a budget should definitely buy this lens. It's not quite on par with the more expensive lenses but the average person will NEVER be able to tell the difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You have to see it to believe it. Beautiful! I love taking pictures but its only a hobby. I don't think I would be as good if I didn't have my Canon Rebel T3i. My original plan was to return the lens because I didn't think it worked at first. Then I down loaded the pictures onto my computer. I was blown away at what I saw. The back ground was blurred and my subjects stood out crisp and clear, almost like 3D. Just the effect I wanted to achieve. I don't know what I did to achieve the pictures I got. All I know I did was point and shoot. But I got professional results and this is now my favorite lens of the six I own. I compared my pictures to those in a magazines and I swear you can't tell that my pictures weren't taken by the same professional photographer who took the pictures in the magazine. I used this lens in the park and had lovely subjects. A few more lens like this one I may consider going pro. Best Buy!
