As partners with our suppliers, we set and uphold ethical standards that reflect our values.
We believe in equality and value–not only for our customers and teams, but also for the people who make the products our business is based on. That's why we set high expectations for our vendors in our Supplier Code of Conduct. By our example, we hope to inspire vendors to develop transparent Corporate Social Responsibility programs of their own.
Together, we're working to create a more ethical global marketplace.
That's just one of the ways we're Together for Better.
As the world's leading multimedia shopping community, QVC works with a global network of suppliers to bring our customers high-quality products. To ensure the products we offer are produced in a socially responsible manner, we require all of our suppliers to commit to the QVC Supplier Code of Conduct.
The Code sets forth our expectations regarding the key workplace issues of child labor, forced labor, discrimination, discipline and abuse, collective bargaining, working hours, wages, and workplace health and safety. The Code also articulates QVC's additional expectation that suppliers will abide by the environmental standards and laws of their country of production, with bribery and anti-corruption laws, and with QVC's related policy. Finally, the Code addresses the avoidance of conflicts of interest.
In addition to the Supplier Code of Conduct, QVC maintains high standards regarding container freight security to prevent harmful contraband being inserted into our supply chain.
To ensure that our suppliers are in compliance with our Code, certain supplier factories undergo workplace audits by a third-party firm based on a risk analysis. An assessment of the physical safety and integrity of the workplace is made to ensure hygienic and safe operating conditions for workers. Workers and management are interviewed to confirm workplace processes and complaint and resolution procedures, all in accordance with the Code.
Select factories also undergo security audits conducted by a third party. These audits assess the security of the factory, the packaged goods, and the filling of containers for shipping.
If violations are discovered, suppliers are expected to make the requisite improvements to comply with our Code. Factories that fail to correct issues within a suitable timeline will come under review by QVC and risk termination of the supplier relationship.
The intent of the program is not only to ensure vendors comply with our Code, but to also assist them and their factories to develop their own processes to improve the overall quality and well-being of their employees and integrity of the products they produce. To that end, QVC provides guidance and insight into effective in-factory management systems to help enable a process of continuous improvement.
