Rated 5 out of 5 by Kathyde Very educational!
I bought this for something special to do with my granddaughters over the summer (ages 4 &6). Even all the adults involved thought it fun and educational. It was very interesting to see the stages the caterpillars go through. We were sent 5 caterpillars and they all turned into healthy butterflies that we set free! Very nice and definitely worth the experience and price. I highly recommend this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gela Kids LOVED it!! But, couple things...
I work with 6th graders & got this after a teacher friend talked about it. Kids loved it! Read directions & helped THEM do what they were supposed to. Three things, one, as one other person mentioned, you will see a substance resembling blood when the butterfly's hatch. You may want to print something out from the internet about these butterflies for kids to look at that talks about the stages. It is not blood as they do not have blood. Second, I did not use the sugar solution & pipettes, instead I cut up oranges, squeezed them a lil-to get some juice out. I changed it every couple days. Oh, and one more thing, put a plastic/foam plate on the bottom (as big as the screened habitat, it gets messy & easier to change the fruit that way.

I got this for a friend who enjoys butterflies. My children and I watched them grow and marveled at how fast they shed/grew. We took them, reborn butterflies, to my friends home for release.
I enjoyed all stages even the creeping crawling!
Rated 4 out of 5 by bwinkle You NEED to know one thing....
My son was seven when we had this. The anticipation and patience was rewarded, however, please be aware that when they 'become' butterflies they seem to leave what looks like blood on the screen. This is not mentioned and was obviously upsetting. Warn your kids first and explain it is NOT blood. Hope this helps.
