Bose Solo 5 Television Sound System is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from not the best quality This item's sound quality has been adequate but I wouldn't rate it exceptional. The price initially seemed reasonable. It has stopped working intermittently and needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to work. This issue started just prior to the end of the warranty period. I would expect a Bose product to last longer than a year. I wouldn't recommend this as there are comparable sound bars on the market that surpass the quality of this one as far as sound goes and I would imagine durability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sound for the money - quick set up I received my Bose Solo 5 system today and within 10 minutes of unpacking it, had it up and running and the remote programmed for my cable box, TV and DVD player. Now, since my Magnavox Smart TV didn't have an optical audio output, I would have been disappointed because it only came with an optical cable. Luckily, I had a digital coaxial cable so I could connect it immediately. Before you buy, check your TV to see what kind of Audio Out connections you have. If you have an Optical Audio Output (also known as Toslink) you're all set since the unit comes with the cable. If you have a single Digital Coax Audio RCA-style output connection, you'll need to get a digital audio cable with RCA connectors. Amazon or any store that sells electronics will have them. If you have an older TV with 2 separate RCA Audio outputs (Left & Right), you'll need to get a "Y" cable that has two ends that plug into your TV and one RCA plug that plugs into the Bose Solo 5. Just thought I'd give a heads up so anyone who wasn't sure about the hook up could get the right cables before the unit arrives and begin using it immediately. Now, as for the sound quality, I'm very satisfied. My TV had pretty decent sound for a flat screen, but not so great at louder volumes. The Bose has a much, much fuller sound, adjustable bass via the remote and overall good quality for a small unit. The "Dialog Mode" function seems to work pretty well also but it just basically lowers the bass to make the dialog easier to hear. Aside from the bass which can be adjusted via the remote, all other equalizer features to adjust mid-range, etc has to be done on your TV which is no big deal. I got a different sound bar for my mother last year and her TV didn't have a way to turn off the TV's speakers (strange for a new TV with an optical output) so she turned down the TV's volume all the way and that will work for anyone using this Bose unit if you don't have a "Speakers Off" function since the volume is controlled on the Bose unit via its remote. As for the Remote the booklet with the codes for the Remote had everything that I needed to quickly program the remote for my TV, cable box (Comcast) and Sony DVD player. It's a pretty decent remote and is solidly built. The buttons are not back-lit (no big deal to me) but the top 6 Device buttons are lit when pressed so you know which device you're currently controlling. It has enough controls and options on the remote to perform virtually any basic task for most devices. I give the remote 5 stars on its own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bose Missed It This Time I purchase this soundbar just because of the Bose name. Upon setting up & pairing, the sound was not at all what I hoped for. Programming the remote south my Samsung smart tv was a little difficult. Returning for a better quality sound bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sound! I purchased a different sound bar and sent it back. Decided to try this one, and I'm glad I did! 2 minutes to set up, and the sound is exceptional! Also hooked my phone with Bluetooth so I can listen to my own music. Bose, this is a great price for this sound bar!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, not great My husband and I treated ourselves to this for Christmas. Our TV is across the room, and it was difficult to hear any dialogue. We've heard amazing things about Bose and decided we would like a soundbar instead of a home theatre system. It works well, especially when using the dialogue button, but it cuts out often. There are periods where it will cut out 5 times (approx. 2 seconds each time) within a 30 minute period. Other times, it will go for an hour without cutting out a single time. That's a little frustrating, but we just deal with it.
