Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect solution I bought my L1 Compact a few years ago when I started performing solo and didn't see the point in lugging around heavy speakers and stands. The L1 was recommended by a local music shop. I checked out various online reviews and YouTube videos before being convinced about making the dramatic change. But I am so glad I did. The Bose L1 Compact takes literally seconds to set up. I now use 2 to get stereo separation and my set up is easily enough for decent sized venues with noisy(ish) audiences, such as pubs. One thing that took me by surprise was the brutally clear sound. You can't 'hide behind' the sound as you can with typical PA systems. The upshot is that you have to improve your performance, which is a good thing of course. For the audience they get an immaculate sound and crystal clarity wherever they are in the room, and without overpowering volume for people sat closer to the stage. For the record I use 2 x Bose L1 (for stereo separation), with my vocals going through an Alesis 3630 Compressor (I consider this essential for any set up) and Alesis MidiVerb for a little gentle reverb. This then goes into a small mixer desk which allows me to control music / vocal volume and reverb level. I play backing tracks off a laptop. I also purchased a small LED lighting system (2 x poles and 2 x lightbars) and I can honestly carry my entire PA sound system AND lighting system in one trip from the car. Of course that's not including my lead bag, FX and mixer. So 2 trips realistically. If you're worried about making the leap from traditional PA amp and speakers, all I can say is 'do it'.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From 802's to the L1's I have happily used Bose 802's since the '70's and finally got a pair of L1's. 1-Wonderful Bose sound! (I have used them with and without the extentions) 2-Set-up/tear down time is simply amazing! (Can't stress this point enough) 3-The light weight is is also a nice touch! 4-Oh, and they look great as well. Go Bose. You have done it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Headphone Jack I have two of the original L1 designs. They are great, durable and the sound is incredible BUT they have no outlet for headphones. I know Bose says they don't need headphones with proper placement behind the performer but I perform in small places (restaurants and pubs) that have no stage and where the patrons are often literally next to me or surrounding me and there noise level is often such that I have great difficulty hearing my Bose. I can't have it directly behind me because there is not enough room. It seemed crazy to not have simply added a headphone jack since they could never anticipate every instance or issue. As a result I will have to look elsewhere for next equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for our Backyard Hip Concert rented this unit for our Tragically Hip concert last Saturday. Sound quality and amplification made watching the concert by the pool with BBQ and Bevvies a great evening. Am seriously considering purchasing one so we can enjoy more backyard viewing experiences with a quality sound system to supplement. Rave reviews from all in attendance.
