A Note from the Designer

"This cotton shirt jacket with Southwest embroidery was inspired by the culture and romance of old Santa Fe. It can be worn all buttoned up as a blouse, or over a tank or tee as a jacket. For those colder days, it'd look great over a turtleneck sweater."

—Bob Mackie

About Bob Mackie

About Bob Mackie...

For years, Bob Mackie's designs have graced some of the most famous stars in the entertainment industry. His ready–to–wear collections, accessories, fragrances, eyewear, collectibles, and home furnishings exude fashionable flair.

As a young boy, Mackie submerged himself in Hollywood glamour, watching and studying every film possible. After leaving design school he quickly found himself in great demand as an assistant to many of the industry’s top designers.

By the mid 1960s, Mackie was a hot young “mod” designer, creating costumes for many top TV variety specials. To date, his impressive television career has earned him 31 Emmy®–award nominations and eight Emmy® Awards.

His contributions to fashion were recognized in 1999 with the Bob Mackie Retrospective at The Museum at The Fashion Institute of Technology. In 2001, he was also honored by the American Council of Fashion Designers of America at the 20th Annual American Fashion Awards.

Mackie brings his inimitable style to QVC with “Wearable Art” by Bob Mackie — a collection of distinctive apparel and accessories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GORGEOUS I absolutely love this jacket!! It not only looks fabulous, but it also is very comfortable. The "weight" of the material is perfect. I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm always happy with Bob Mackie's clothes though. :) 08-18-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Pretty Well made and lovely jacket. I returned because I want a stronger contrast on the jacket, but it is a good jacket. 08-05-16
Rated 4 out of 5 by Bob Mackie's Santa Fe Dream I ordered it in black but did not like the material.. I wish it would have been black denim instead! The embroidery was beautiful. Loved the colors. I also did not like the style on me. A little too boxie for my taste! Bob I really wish you would bring back the black and white stripe t-shirt with the red embroidered flowers on the front. I have the coral with the yellow embroidered flowers and I love it! 08-03-16
Rated 3 out of 5 by Liked the design - not the fabric This fabric was too stiff and uncomfortable. I have not been happy with Bob Mackie products on QVC. I seem to return everything. I will stop buying them. 05-28-16
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great, but some improvements I purchased and just received the blue jean option of this beautifully embroidered jacket. The fit is nice, and I can foresee using this jacket frequently. However there are some finishing issues that I wish to call to Mr. Mackie's attention. 1. The facing is not tacked down. It gives the jacket a sloppy fit....especially since this is truly a designer jacket. Since I sew, I sewed the facing down so it is not sloppy. 2. The other issue is the button application. The buttons, themselves are nice buttons; however, they are sewn in a less than durable fashion. The shank buttons are sewn directly to the material. With the expected use of the buttons, I can see that the shank buttons will wear off and probably pull the denim, creating a hole in the jacket. The proper way to sew these buttons on is to use a small button behind the facing so the two buttons anchor to each other and do not pull on the denim material. This is more costly, but again, this is a designer product and should have the construction of upscale designs. I will go to the fabric store and re-sew the buttons correctly. I considered returning the jacket, but I like the beautiful embroidery so much that I will invest the time and extra money to upgrade the jacket. I only gave the jacket 4 stars, because I am compelled to make the changes described above. I would have preferred to take the jacket out the package and wear it without alterations. I have purchased Bob Mackie vests in the past. I have had to make similar alterations before wearing the items. Before ordering from Mr. Mackie, I now factor in additional time and money that will have to be spent by me to make appropriate alterations. Yes, I would buy again. Once I fix the garment, it will be awesome! 04-23-16
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor Fabrication I bought this jacket in the gray coloration and it was beautiful as far as the embroidery and style. The fabric used in this jacket, however, wrinkles terribly, so that the jacket looks like you've slept in it almost immediately. I was grossly disappointed after the first wearing at how awful it looked. Really detracts from the beautiful style. Hopefully, better grade fabric will be used in future for Mackie designs; they deserve the best. 03-24-16
Rated 3 out of 5 by Hit And Miss I ordered both the denim and white jackets. First I must say the embroidery is well done and I really like the design. However according to the product description the length should have been 28 1/2 inches, both measure only 26 inches! And the pockets on the white jacket are completely sewn shut! The pockets are there as you can see them on the inside. Where's quality control? Also the denim one arrived in good condition( nicely packaged) while the white one was folded strangely and the paper and plastic bag had obviously been reused. Looks like this was someone's return! I think I'm going to keep the denim one and just wear it open with a longer tank under it to cover the rest of my backside! But I'll be darned if I'll pay for a defective reject. So back goes the white one! 02-06-16
Rated 3 out of 5 by NOT MY STYLE I LOVE BOB'S CLOTHES BUT THIS JACKET WAS TO BULKIE FOR MY TASTE. IF IT HAD BEEN ANOTHER MATERIAL IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE. LOVE HIS CLOTHES. 02-05-16
