Blue Jean Chef Set of 2 9" Stainless Steel Mesh Bottom Pie Pans
Don't waste your money!
If I could give no stars I would! Very hard to clean! waste of money!
I had high hopes for this pan, it does make a good crust but after one use, and attempt at clean up, it rusted. Couldnt get the crust out of the mesh. Maybe they'll improve the product.
Worked for me!
This pan allowed my lemon meringue crust to brown up perfectly and not get soggy in the fridge later. I put this pie plate on a serving plate to cut and serve so I had no mess! Used it also for quiche, no problem. But I am careful cutting slices to avoid cutting thru the mesh. I like these pan, which work well for me!
This item does make the pie crust nice and done on the bottom, but when you cut the pie the filling leaks on to the table or what ever surface it is on.
Cleanup so bad on first pan that I threw away the second one instead of attempting to wash.. Had baked two pumpkin pies hoping to finally master the entire pie including crust. It stuck to pan. A total disaster. Wish I had used in time to return. Now I will hesitate to order this brand product and if I do will certainly try out in the first few days after receiving the item. DON'T ORDER, WASTE OF MONEY.
I should have known better!
Thought this would alleviate my soggy crust problem, but the result was a crust that was not browned but sort of disintegrated into the mesh. Then cleanup was a disaster. Also, noticed the beginning of a rust issue. Since I was so sure they would work, I didn't attempt a pie until it was too late to return. Now what do I use these for? I can't believe they're still selling these--they should have been pulled from inventory.
Sorry to say, I kept these too long before trying so can't return. You can use them for heating things but definitely not for cooking pies. I was excited to try these but the bottom of the pie was as soggy as ever and the crust stuck to the mesh. Because the mesh is NOT non-stick, it was impossible to get it clean. I ended up throwing it out!!!
overall good buy
I gave these to my Daughter for Christmas, she made a pie using just the pan itself, then made a pie placing this pie pan in another pan. From all indications, you get better results cooking just in the pan by itself, then transferring your pie to another pan once cooked. It really did good on getting the sogginess out of the crust. Overall, she is pleased and that is what counts.
Blue Jean Chef Mesh Bottom Pie Pans
I have just received my pans and have not used them yet. I just read all the reviews and it doesn't look good. I think I am going to return them without trying them.
A bad purchase mistake
Just used this pan for a pear pie. Even though it was not very runny, after the pie was cut some of the pie leaked out through the mesh and made a mess. You must keep another dish underneath. The crust was no more browned then usual with my glass pan. I will use this pan for quiche only. I also noticed sharp edges.
Rough edge on bottom seam of mesh
I purchased these as a Christmas gift & for an avid baker. I was embarrassed when she opened the package & was scratched by a poorly finished seam in the mesh bottom.
I am so disappointed with this pie pan. I was excited to try it on a Canadian meat pie we make for Christmas and I must say it leaked through the mesh and I have to agree on the rust problems. I have other BJ products I love but this is a failure in my book.
