if you take care of them properly. First thing is to wrap the box in a strong plastic bag and secure the bag to protect the box and batteries from the rain,,snow and ice. I have tucked the box in a shrub, and the bottom branch of tree with no problems. When you take them down, remove the batteries, wipe the box clean from moisture before putting it away. I have had these lights for 7 seasons and just now need to replace one strand because one of the battery connections is no longer holding the connection properly.

I've had these lights for several years. I've used them mostly on the inside around windows but occasionally have had them on the front porch. I've put them outside on some trees in the yard this year and wrapped the box in a plastic bag just in case. The batteries usually last the whole season and love the timer option. Ordering more!

These lights are great. I bought 4 last Xmas. My only knock is I bought 4 and had to pay for 4 shipping costs. Would of been nice if the could of combined it. I spent 100. On 4 lights cause of added shipping cost. They do work well . Nice and bright . They do last from thanks giving to January 6. They were still working but it was time to take them down. Would recommend

We have bought so many of these Bethlehem lights, they works great, and ,we get
compliments from folks every year ,saying how great the lights look.
Note this someone I read mentioned that they put up lights the whole year I think I read right, and they didn't work when they replaced the batteries.
We always cover the battery box in a plastic grocery bag,and tie it shut that rain will not rust the contacts inside, otherwise the contacts will rust up and you have to sand the rust off because is the rust is prohibiting a connection for the lights to get juice from the battery..
Its not Bethlehem light's fault or anyone's fault, just next time get a bag and put the battery box inside it and tie it up .You'll see its better.I haven't had a problem since doing this.

Not what I expected. Will never order again. It was cheaper to throw them away then return them

I put these lights on a small tree in my yard last Xmas and decided to leave them up and use them for the rest of the new year. They worked fine until I changed the batteries last week and they failed to work. Now with leaves on the tree I can't remove them until fall. I thought with the "new and improved" battery box that it would withstand the elements, well they didn't for me and will not purchase Bethlehem products again.
