Bethlehem Lights Battery Op. Mixed Flower Hanging Basket
I orders 4 of these baskets for my front porch and was thrilled with the product! I cannot wait until I can put them back up for the upcoming Spring/Summer season.
Ordered this about 2 yrs ago. Mine takes 4 D batteries. Lights never worked right but it's so pretty so I decided to keep it. Now the plastic clasp that holds the batteries in broke. Had to tape it shut. Every once in a while I try the lights again to see if they will work. Today is one of those days. So far the lights in the steady mode are working. Hope they continue to do so because I do like this very much. Maybe Bethlehem Lights can improve on this item. I am sure if they do more people would purchase it. I gave it 3 stars for the beautiful flower basket.
Not as Good as it Looks
I bought two of these at the beginning of the spring and my first mistake was not sending them back as soon as they came out of the box. They were both all smashed from being in the box and I remember them saying you can fan them out when you get them at home. YOU CAN'T!!
I kept them anyway hoping that gravity and the air would help them, but now at the end of the summer, they are still the same. Good in theory, but not good as is.
waste of money
I purchased 5 hanging baskets this year from Bethlehem lights. After two months, all of the baskets rotted out, and about half of the basket material is left on them. For the amount of money they cost, i really expected more. Won't purchase any of their baskets again.
Beautiful! Works great!
I love this basket. I've had it since last spring and its still working perfectly with timer on same set of batteries. It has been rained on and even snowed on!
I ORDERED THIS A YEAR AGO, LASTED ONE YEAR AND THEN NO LIGHTS. THE BATTERY CASE JUST DIED. THIS HUNG UNDER A PORCH AND GOT LITTLE RAN. I AM VERY SAD THIS NO LONGER WORKS. I WILL TRY AND GET A STRAND OF BATTERY OPERATED LIGHTS AND RESTRING THE PLANT.
worked for 5 weeks
We bought 6 of these last year, they worked for about five weeks. The neighbors loved them and they were beautiful for as long as they worked. Should have sent them back when the first one stopped, but thought it was just a bad one. Shortly they all quit working, we changed batteries but it didn't help.. I will say they are still hanging, still pretty, just no lights.
needed a lot of work to function
This is a beautiful item, but after one use it did not work. It had not been rained on or otherwise gotten wet. After staring at the battery box and switch for a bit I decided that I could probably fix it. After taking apart the top of the battery box I found the little circuit board covered in corrosion. I used a toothbrush and windex to clean the entire board, including under the switch, which I had to remove to clean under. One must ensure that all white and green corrosion is removed from the circuit board and under the switch. I then reassembled the battery box, placed it inside a ziplock bag and it now works. point to remember: everything has to back together the way it came apart amd it might be a good idea to put a couple if silicate cartridges from a medicine bottle in the bag.
Bought last spring. stopped working after 1 month! timer malfunctioned and it did a kind of blink on and off not twinkle. after first heavy rain this happened. I tried again puttng fresh batteries in to see if maybe by some stroke of luck it would work this season. but no its just a plain old hanging plant with no lights. soooooo upset. QVC really has to reevaluate this line!!!!! It seems to be a common problem not only with this hangng basket but others of Bethlehem lights as well. I bought a new hanging basket from Beth lights last week. Hope that they remade the timer etc and corrected problem. I will report back when I put the batteries in.
A VERY EXPENSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT
I purchased 3 of these baskets and 3 of the petunia lighted baskets last year 2011 to surround the deck of my condo. I spent over $300.00. The claim is that the battery boxes are water-tight, but after installing batteries and setting timers, I put each box in a plastic zip lock bag, taping them shut, just for extra protection. I hung all the baskets out on my deck. Each basket came on at the time I set; they were absolutely beautiful. I was so pleased. They were the talk of the complex. Neighbors came out each evening just to see them. THEY WORKED ONLY 2 WEEKS! I came home one day and one of the baskets was twinkling. I had no idea how long it had been on. All the baskets were set for lights to remain on without twinkling. One by one each basket came on at times not set for, all twinkling, and then would not shut off. I took them down and discovered each battery box filled with water (it had rained). The batteries were all rusted. Finally, the lights stopped working all together. I had them over a month before putting them on my deck, so returning them to QVC was not an option. Bethlehem Lights should take these off the market, because they have not perfected them. I am disappointed in QVC. Where was that often mentioned QUALITY CONTROL with this product. I have been a satisfied customer of QVC since the beginning. This was a very expensive lesson. Very disappointing.
Ibought two of these beautiful baskets. My husband put two hanging chains on the soffet we then hung them out they were georgeous and I was very proud to have them in our neighborhood. Then within 1 week they went into a flashing strobe lights and would not turn off by the timer. I did send them back and was hoping that after all the bad reveiws with the same problems from other customers that bethlehem lights would fix this before selling anymore. The QUALITY and VALUE that QVC stands for does not apply to these items until they are fixed. Pleases do so as they are so pretty. One other suggestion- how about having these made in the US i'm sure they could get the timers right!! thanks
I love the look of this....the flowers are beautiful and very realistic, but I have the same problem as others have mentioned with the lights going on the fritz. They are in constant "twitch" mode and nothing I do changes it. Unfortunately, the problem didn't start until the second set of batteries, so it was beyond the return time frame. First time I've had a problem with Bethlehem Lights products.
