Belleek "Everyday" Basketweave 2 qt. Baker w/ Lid
Beauty & Function!
I ordered this when it was a really great price! It was on St Patrick's Day and it was just under $30. I was a little disappointed that they only had the solid and mine has no shamrocks on it but it is beautiful anyway! I have made a baked rotini dish and it looked beautiful for serving and clean up was a breeze! I would buy another one when the shamrock one is available again, even at a higher price!
Very Poor Quality
I ordered four (4) of these bakers as Christmas gifts. I was very disappointed when they
arrived; (1) the lids don't fit (2) they're not the quality portrayed on airing (3) they don't have the shamrocks painted on the side and (4) the knob on the top of the cover isn't centered correctly - three are at angles and the fourth is off-center. And, yes I agree with another
purchaser that these definitely appear to be seconds. I am very disappointed in QVC
for allowing this product to be offered to their customers. After all, their name says it all, right - QUALITY -VALUE-CONVENIENCE. I agree that you get what you pay for, however,
speaking for most of us who shop with QVC, we trust their judgement and don't expect
to receive an inferior product. I, for one, would have gladly paid slightly more to receive what was advertised and not what I actually received.
I received my baker yesterday. It is lovely! . I ordered mine because I needed a pretty casserole dish for the rare times I entertain. I have not used the dish yet but it is the right size and look for my needs. I do not care for the Temptations brand because it is too "busy" for my tastes. This dish is perfect for me. When not in use I will display it in my China cabinet. Thanks!
All I can say is WOW....tv presentation did not do this beautiful piece justice. Our first Belleek..won't be the last..Thanks QVC for bringing a pice of Ireland to the states.
Wow, my first Beleek bakeware and the packaging was awesome no glaze cracks like Temptations I always receive with. Don't hesitate buy now before no longer. No boring white ware here !!!! LOVE IT
A Little Surprised
After ordering 5 of these dishes as Mother's Day gifts for my girls, I was disappointed to not find the painted shamrock on the side of the dish. In watching the show on TV and ordering from my iPad (where the picture shown had the shamrock), I was not real happy. I even enlarged the picture of the dish to verify the shamrock artwork. Oh well, the price is good and I hope the girls will be happy in spite of missing drawing.
I ordered this belleek piece
on St Patricks Day..
I bought this for my sister for a birthday gift but it is not the quality that was described on QVC. Lid doesn't fit at all. Casserole feels cheap, no shamrocks on the side.
I guess I will keep it because of the shipping price to go back .
Bottom line, you get what you pay for, I think this is a second.
Belleek doesn't pass the quality test
The top doesn't sit level on the dish.Poor quality control again with QVC or whoever.
The special pricing I got with this on St. Patricks Day show, brings with it cheap quality.
Lid doesn't fit
The lid does NOT sit on top- it moves all around and there is no place where it sits correctly so it moves all the time. Not only is that poor quality, it will not keep the heat in, when cooking, it will dry out what you are baking in it and spoil in the refrigerator, as a leftover. Mine did not have the shamrocks on it that was displayed when I ordered it. The one I got was all white and the glaze on it was not done as well as it should have been either. Belleek from Ireland doesn't mean anything if it looks like it was made in the neighbor's basement ceramic class. I am glad I didn't order one and have it sent directly to my sister. This is not nice enough to give as a gift. I wonder if this is why this new item was such a low price.??? I would rather know there is a defect and then decide if the price is low enough for me to accept the item with that defect. When QVC has a special price I expect it to be top quality unless you state "AS IS". Very disappointed.
Lid Does Not Fit Propperly
This would be a lovely dish, if it didn't have certain issues. The sides of the dish are not straight and therefore the lid does not fit properly. It's the same issue customers noted in their reviews last year. One would think, Belleek would have taken this to heart. Too bad really!
Delighted with mine
I purchased this beautiful piece as an OTO on St Pat's Day. I made Jane Treacy's mom's Kerry Cake in it this afternoon right after it arrived. Worked beautifully! The lid is not tight fitting, but that was clear in the on-air presentation. For dishes that need to be baked with a tight lid, I use my cast iron pots. I will use this for items baked without a lid, yet the lid comes in handy for keeping things warm (plus it's lovely to look at). I also appreciate the size of this baker. A traditional 9 x 13 in. baker is too large for our small family. This is nice and deep, however. There are no imperfections on the piece I received. I'm thrilled with this purchase.
Bakes well & handsome pretty
I bought one of these bakers and went back for a second! I bought both of them on clearance and they are well worth the money especially at this price as they are Belleek and have wonderful craftmanship to them. I regularly bake in mine and they not only bake well but clean up easily too which was a surprise. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because to me the lid on these bakers are a little clumsy. They are clumsy like those heavy ceramic terracotta german baker lids but way more refined and definitely lighter. So I would say the overall piece is handsome pretty. The lid being rather bulky and clumsy yet well crafted and the base being so pretty with its basket design and shamrock detail. Also, these bakers are not like my glass ones which are perfectly rigidly formed, they are pottery with bend and sway in the design and so the lids are not a perfect tight fit. Despite this, I would have paid full price for these pieces but maybe would have only ordered one due to budgetary constraints.
