best ever I have been a Barry Manilow Fan for ever . this Cd is a departure from his original music it tells the story of a young singer looking for his big break , He gets it then he hits rock bottom and comes back again . the lyrics are amazing and the music is raw . I was lucky enough to see him in concert a few weeks ago .he still has it !! 09-11-11
My 84 yo Mothers "Dream Man" We buy all of Barry's albums. My Mother was a musician and she sings along with him DAILY, and I do mean daily. She enjoys the bio info and always watches when he is on your special promo shows. QVC always has the Bonus CDs not available elsewhere. An added treat for her. Thanks QVC from "My Mother" and me. 08-24-11
Love it!!! I'm so happy to hear the music that I think Barry does best...his own. I, too, can't stop listening to it. Thank you Barry!!!!! 08-05-11
BARRY DOES IT AGAIN I received this album and the bonus CD two weeks ago and I can't stop playing the CD. I just love the CD. In my opinion this is the best CD that Barry has done in a long time. I have every album Barry has ever put out on CD and this CD is no disappointment. I love the fact that Barry went out of his comfort zone with this CD and tried something different, and boy did it pay off. I would highly recommend this CD to any Barry fan in a heart beat. I am looking forward to seeing Barry at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on February 10, 2012 which I have tickets for already. I am in the 6th row on the floor. I can't wait to hear him sing some of the songs from the new album and of course all his hits. I even named my cat Mandy. Congradulations Barry on an excellent album. A devoted Manilow fan. 07-06-11
I love this! I think this new CD is outstanding. There are some songs that are a different sound for Barry, but I like that he "broadened his horizons" rather than just staying with what's known and safe. Of course there are ballads to love as well! IMO, Barry does not have to stick to ballads to sound good! 07-01-11
Disappointed fan I have always loved Barry, but this set was not up to his standard. The songs were not particuarlly his style. They rambled on with little to poor story line. I found the CD quite boring, advancing the tracks just part way through. Not the Barry I've been used to. Sorry Barry, but you need some better music! 06-30-11
THE BEST BARRY MANILLOW EVER OMG...I received the CD last week and have listened to it every time I get into my car. The songs are so fresh. Barry has reinvented himself and stays contemporary after all of these years! I have listened to Barry since he first hit the spotlight. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these tunes. Only one small problem, "He's a Star" got into my head one night and I couldn't get to sleep. Seriously, kept me up all night. Everytime I would wake, the song was in my head. Now I am waiting for "Everything's gonna be Alright" to do the same! Start working on that follow-up CD...I will be waiting. 06-27-11
15 Minutes Shines! It is a rare and special treat when a musical legend like Barry Manilow releases an album of all original material. Barry's millions of fans have been waiting for original material, and finally 15 Minutes is here! Of course, the 15 Minutes concept was inspired by Andy Warhol's iconic statement that "In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes." In addition, the very appropriate tag line for 15 Minutes is "Fame...Can You Take It?" Barry's long tenure with Arista and Clive Davis has ended, and 15 Minutes is released on his own label (Stiletto Entertainment.) Now having the artistic and creative freedom to make a gem of an album like 15 Minutes, each song is an important part of telling the story of a young man who seeks fame, gets it, loses it, and then wants to get it back again. There is no doubt 15 Minutes is definitely guitar and acoustic driven, however, the songs do range from more traditional sounding ballad most often associated with Barry Manilow like "Bring On Tomorrow" to rock/guitar driven songs like "Work The Room" and "Now It's For Real." One of the things that makes this album so amazing and brilliant is how all these songs blend and work together. This is definitely a different sounding Barry Manilow, which shows how versatile his musical talent is, and that he can do pop, rock, jazz, swing, Broadway show tunes, Big Bands, Sinatra, etc., and do them all very well indeed. The ups and downs of fame are also addressed in 15 Minutes with songs like "Winner Go Down." "He's A Star" (which was originally recorded as "She's A Star" from Barry's "Tryin' To Get The Feeling" album) works perfectly on 15 Minutes with a new arrangement that gives it more muscle for a male singer. There is also "Letter From A Fan/So Heavy, So High," with a great performance by Nataly Dawn of "Pomplamoose." "Letter from A Fan" starts out innocent and becomes haunting, and the best description of this song is that it is really about a fan in general, who goes too far, and becomes (for the lack of a better term) obsessed with the singer. Barry's fabulous performance of "So Heavy, So High" is infused with "Letter From A Fan" and tells the artist's point of view about such fans. Other favorites are "Wine Song", "Slept Through The End Of The World" and "Trainwreck." From beginning to end, 15 Minutes is a pleasure to listen to, and you may want to get up and dance to "Everything's Gonna Be All Right." with it's infectious disco-inspired beat. In conclusion, Barry's voice has never sounded better, and I believe 15 Minutes proves why he is such a powerful musical force. Yes, he really does write the songs the whole world sing because Barry is not just a singer. He is a singer, composer, arranger, producer, recording artist and concert entertainer extraordinaire! Barry and his team of incredibly talented people have created a musical work of art, and I strongly believe 15 Minutes is definitely a Grammy contender! I highly recommend you listen to 15 Minutes yourself, and go on an amazing musical journey with Barry through all the ups and downs of fame. 06-22-11
Such a disappointment! We have 99% of all Barry Manilows music. This is, without a doubt, not his best work! He needs to stick with what he does best. We could just barely listen to each song. We are very disappointed with this CD. We have been big fans of his from the beginning; however, this new cd of his is awful. 06-21-11
Love, Love, Love Have been a Barry Manilow fan since the early 70's. He has never failed me. Love, him and his music. The songs on this CD are beyond wonderful. When I close my eyes I can picture the next concert with the band and the backdrops and of course Barry giving his all, which is what he always does. I have seen Barry in concert many times, from the Paramount Theater (Gershwin now), Radio City on New Years Eve ( I sat in front of his Mom), Nassau Coliseum, Atlantic City, PNC Arts Center (where a storm happened during the concert) it's a long story. As you can see I truly am a fan, but this CD is like no other. I have played it over and over since it arrived and it truly tells a story. Thank you Barry. You are like fine wine, getting better and better. 06-19-11
Barry is no folk rocker! I have always loved Barry Manilow's cd's but this one is just not his style. His rapping is awful and his voice just doesn't sound the same. You are a ballad singer Barry. Stick to what you know. And this album is not it. Sorry! I hope that I can send it back. 06-18-11
EXCELLENT I was introduced to Barry's music in 1984 after our 9 year old son died suddenly. The songs he sang at that time were just what the Doctor ordered. Especially, "I Made It Through the Rain". I still love Barry's music. It is so warm and friendly. I listen as if he is singing directly to me. Thank you, Barry for your life and struggles. They have all paid off! I also loved your book, "Sweet Life." Joyce, IL 06-18-11
