Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful I disagree with the reviews that say the scales don’t show up, etc. I watched the video and mine looks even better. Grab it now; I predict this will become a highly prized piece!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Dragon!! I love this whimsical dragon. The detail is amazing. There are shiny scales, brushed silver scales and gold trim on the wings and neck. I do feel that the oxidizing is enough to outline the scales. I love the flow of the piece as the body tapers into a serpentine shape. The topaz drop gives a nice finishing touch. What’s really amazing about this piece is that if you look at the back, it is just as detailed as the front. Only Barbara Bixby does details like this. She is an amazing artist. I have many of her pieces and love them all. Give this dragon a try. You won’t be disappointed!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Shiny I really wanted a Dragon pendant and I do like the design and the size is perfect. But, the scales are so very shiny that you can actually see reflections in the body of this creature! The scales are outlined in black but it doesn’t look like oxidation; the black outlines make the scales look like stainless steal rather than silver! The pave white Topaz is uneven on my pendant drop and looks dull unless I hold it out in bright sun, which I don’t intend to do. The larger round white Topaz on the neck looks like good workmanship but the stones are hardly noticeable because of the glare of the scales. This piece really looks like a knock off of a B.B. design. I have so many beautiful BB pendants! The little deer is so much prettier than this dragon, and the gecko makes me think this dragon was manufactured and not crafted. Beautiful design but poor execution in my opinion.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A WYVERN by any other name... ...is still not a dragon. I wanted to love this as I love and appreciate Ms. Bixby's art. I understand and respect artistic expression and interpretation, and thought I could grow to love this for that reason. However, I could not get past several things. A TWO-legged legendary serpentine creature with a dragon-like head and tail is a wyvern. It differs from a dragon in lesser intelligence, ferocity, etc. The neck and tail are longer and more slender. Also, the legs are set further back in the body so it can walk. This really bothered me the more I looked at it, and the legs themselves seemed almost an afterthought due to lack of detail, size, position, etc. (If the piece had four legs the rest of the body would have made sense.) After I showed it to a devoted dragon enthusiast, I was given severe criticism of the design. So sorry to give a less than stellar review but to me this is not a dragon, and is a questionable wyvern - even with artistic license taken into account. If you can get past this, the piece is weighty with sterling silver, and has nice touches of gold and white topaz. And, by the way, no oxidation as other reviewers have stated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just plain charming The gold and topaz touches are worth the price of admission, IMHO. Like the other reviewer, I didn't get enough oxidation, but that is not a deal breaker for me. (Oxidation happens over time. I tend not to shine my silver so oxidation can happen.) I wouldn't let that be a barrier if you are interested in this piece. and if you take a chance, you might get the right amount of oxidation to suit your eye. She is very sweet and has a lot of personality conveyed by great detail. The eye is gold, which is a very nice touch. In addition to the drop, white topaz lines the ruff of the neck - and I love it! I especially love the slim enhancer bale because that offers a lot more functionality than the wider, "y-shaped" bale found on a lot of other Bixby enhancers. I was fortunate enough to get her on a price drop with ez-pay, so maybe the price doesn't bother me - I think she's worth every penny. Perhaps not the most heaviest piece in the line, but she's not a lightweight and is very sturdy. The design, from tip of snout to curly tail, is beautiful and well-executed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dragon Flies This Chinese inspired Dragon seems to be captured in flight. Love the frosted silver on the wings and legs, and just enough oxidation to highlight the detail without making the piece dull, as it is silver and gold, except for the drop covered in white Topaz. With some of Barbara’s pieces with white Topaz being completely devoid of sparkle (I tend to avoid them) there have been a few exceptions and this is one. The drop which is clustered with white Topaz sparkles like diamonds. The white Topaz “mane” also has good light, combined with the shine from the polished silver, this is a beautiful piece, worthy of the Bixby name!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Underwhelming I have been a big fan of Barbara Bixby's work for years and have been anxious for her to create a dragon to add to my collection of her jewelry. This is such a boring one, though! (I could imagine tsavorite scales, etc. It has almost no gems.) I ordered it, anyway, and like the previous reviewer lamented, it has no oxidation like the picture online, making the detail hard to see. Also, the position of the dragon makes it looks like a carousel animal. I'm afraid this one will have to go back, and I'll be waiting for a better version.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Awsome drangon The dragon picture above is awesome. My pendant is very shiny, NO oxidation ,so the details do not show upwell, as it appears in the pictures. I may see if some one can add some oxidation to the pendant. I really wished it looked like the picture.
