Anna Boiardi 5.5 qt. Flavor Pro Nonstick Stovetop Cooker
only word to say GREAT!!!!!!
we have had for 6 months now
it is between a slow cooker and pressure cooker
easy, food taste great!
my husband and I both use it
NO PRESSURE! !!!
I ordered one a couple of weeks ago which I had to return because it never got to pressure. QVC sent me a new one which I just received and again no pressure! Steam escapes from all around the lid, all the liquids evaporate quickly and your food stays uncooked :( shame, they sure are beautiful.
I haven't used a pressure cooker in years. When I saw this one on QVC I thought this would be great to go with my NuWave PIC. The first dish I tried was the meatballs using the recipe card included on my NuWave induction cook top. They turned out okay. Then I thought I would try a pork roast... it was just okay... not tender at all, but it was moist. The next thing I tried on the NuWave was a corn beef.... this took almost as long to cook it as it would have taken in the crock pot on high, and it never got tender. I decided to try it on my regular ceramic cook top. It did work better for the next dish tried, (CHICKEN# however, I cooked it according to the time chart and the chicken was tough and dry. The next dish I cooked was cube steak.... in 45 minutes it came out tender and tasted as though it had simmered for hours. I do enjoy using the pressure cooker, and it is very easy to clean. The BIGGEST downside, especially for novice users, is that it does not come with any instructions on HOW to use it. #IE: troubleshooting, "If your meat comes out dry/tough.... tell me what I did wrong", or Cooking temps and more exact liquid measurements and cooking steps, etc.)
For that reason only, I give it 4 stars. I've had a couple of barely edible meals because I'm having to teach myself how to use it. Had it come with a complete users guide.... this would be a 5 start product.
Totally pleased with this stove top cooker!
I'm always reluctant to use new things for a first time. Once I began using it, it's used almost every day for a variety of meals. Last night's fare included pork chops and they were awesome. I've made pot roast dinners, with beef, potatoes, carrots etc. which were equally awesome.
No need to cook on high heat. Perhaps use a higher temp when browning the meat but then turn the burner down, between low and medium. My primary objective is to achieve tenderness...which this accomplishes nicely! Clean up is a breeze.
I selected the red cooker which matches my kitchen accessories. It sets on my stove top at all times. Tonight's food fare will include cabbage rolls (with ground beef, rice etc.)
Cool Healthy Kitchen
I have been intimidated by other high pressure cookers in the past, so I was delighted by the low pressure aspect of this product.
It gets the job done in record time, while giving me a cooler kitchen, and healthier meals in half the time.....or less than regular stove top or oven cooking.
I own this pan. Even after reading all the negatives I purchased it. I own 2 sets of the
cookware which is absolutely my favorite cookware ever!! The problem is that once this pan reaches the steaming point one needs to immediately turn it down to low. This is an awesome low pressure cooker. If your cooker is rocking on the stove you have the heat far higher than what is required.
If I read the reviews before ordering this item, I probably would not have purchased it. I simply LOVE this low pressure cooking pot. It works just fine for everything that I have tried cooking. Tough short ribs came out perfectly tender after 45 minutes...stews were a breeze to prepare. I wanted to thicken my stews with just vegetables so I tossed in frozen cauliflower and broccoli for just 6 minutes and they melted and thickened my liquids just nicely, thank you. Into the pot at 5:00 pm, then sit down to dinner at 6:00 pm - it's a snap to use. I prefer this pot to the electric pressure cooker I purchased previously. I feel perfectly safe using this cooker - no shaking noises from a pressure gauge keeping me on edge. It's GREAT!
Do not buy this pan!
I ordered one pan despite all of the bad reviews to find that the first one I ordered the lid would not fit tightly. Steam escaped from the sides of the lid and the lid rocks back-and-forth on the pan. I could not get the lid to fit tightly. I returned it thinking I had just bought a faulty one. I received the second one today and thought I would try it out. Lo and behold this lid does not fit tightly either. It rocks back-and-forth on the pan in spite of everything I have tried to get it to seal tightly. No pressure and steam escapes for the sides. I am so disappointed and am surprised that Anna Boiardi would even put her name on such a bad product. I am returning this one.
Love this cooker!
I love this cooker. It does everything they say it will do! It is extremely well made, sturdy, nonstick, I got the great red color, cooks evenly and delicious foods come out every time that I use it. This cooker works great for me and I sure am glad that I purchased it.
Flavor is unbelievable when cooked in this cooker.
2nd one returned as defective
If this low pressure cooker would work correctly it would be great and then I would wholeheartedly recommend it, because you can really add larger items inside and it is also induction ready which is an additional plus.
1st Boiardi low pressure cooker I purchased for myself and returned it due to excessive loss of steam through the valves, food would not cook thoroughly, and it leaked excessively no matter how many times I checked and re-checked the rubber ring for proper seating.
The 2nd of this same Boiardi low pressure cooker I purchased for a relative as a gift and she returned from a business trip and called me last night, stating no matter how many times she re-seats the rubber ring all her three meals she cooked in the Boiardi low pressure cooker in one day all leaked hot water from the valves. This is a definite defect of the product, so am returning it for a full refund with no s&h charges.
They say three times is a charm so my relative asked me to also not only return the defective low cooker but to also order another one since she really liked the size of this cooker, and hopes 3 is a lucky number this time.......I hope so too because I would hate to have this third purchase become another defective return.
my new favorite cooking pot
Man,do I ever love this pot! Wish I would have had this years ago when I was cooking big batches of food for my family. The big batches are mostly gone, but the pot is still great for the smaller recipes, too. I fix everything from soup to stews to casseroles and I don't have to hover over them to be sure they don't burn. A lot of my recipes start out with bacon, onions, garlic and all colors of bell peppers ( I'm nuts over that combination) The pot is so easy to clean that I want to use it for everything. Small batches large batches, anything I'd like to simmer for a while to intensify the flavor of. Everything cooks so beautifully in it and joy of joys , I don't have to stand over it to keep it from sticking or burning .Sound like I love this pot? Yessem, I do, I do I do!. .
