K5359 - All-in-One Stainless Steel Blade Food Slicer
I've only used it a coupole times as my husband does most of the cooking for now and he likes a different gadget we have but makes more work cleaning it up. As soon as I have my surgery and get well I'm sure I will be using it all the time.
I've always wanted a mandoline slicer, but couldn't justify the high prices I found. This little slicer works like a dream! If you read the directions, you shouldn't have any problem using it, and, yes, the dial is hard to turn, but you really don't want it to be too loose especially while you are slicing harder vegetables like potatoes. The first day it arrived, I went to the supermarket and bought lots of vegetables and just sliced and julliened away!! It's great for salads and all around prepping of veggies. Cleans easily and doesn't take up much storage space. I don't think you'll find a better bargain for a slicer like this.
This is the one kitchen tool I cannot put away. I have been dieting, lots of salads, and this makes it so easy. Slices onions, carrots, mushrooms etc, very thinly and can even do cheeses and chicken breast, summer sausage, and many other kinds of foods to your desired thickness..
I have bought several for other people and they all are very happy with this product.
I intend to buy another in case I wear my first one out......LOL
Easy to use
I love this little gadget. Very easy to use and no need to worry about losing the blades. Works as promised.
Nifty little machine
I think the people who are negative maybe didn't read the directions very carefully. I did, and it worked fine for me from the first time. I'm sure I will find lots of use for it and like the fact that it's not heavy or bulky. Very easy to use.
Finally one that actually works for me!
This is the 4th slicer I have purchased. 2 from high end stores and one from QVC many years ago. I could never get them to work for me. I saw this one and said "what the heck, I'll order it", only because QVC is so great when it comes to returns. The 1st day I got it I sliced carrots, celery, turnips & onions for chicken soup! It was a breeze but the real test was going to be potatos. I sliced them last night for scallop potatos and I whipped right through 2 giant russets. I haven't tried french fries yet but I don't forsee any problems.
I just received this slicer and I have already used it a few times. I am having a good time making potato chips with this slicer and the Prepology silicone splatter guard. I get just the perfect thickness for chips. I also used it to dice onions. The knob seems rather stiff but if you set it on the edge of the counter, I found that to be easier. Also the guard that came with it is movable. I did not know this at first but the middle comes up so that you can get a grip on a potato with the longer spikes. The instructions do say to replace the blade occasionally but I did not see an address from which to order one. I do have trouble getting the blade guard on and off however. It may loosen up a bit after I have used it awhile.
All in all, I think that this will be a good slicer to have in the kitchen. It zipped a potato into slices in record time, all even perfect slices.
I wish I had bought this slicer years ago as it is the best ever. So easy and clean up is quick. Does a good job on all kinds of veggies and fruits.
I LOVE THIS SLICER!!!!!
This is the only tool I use to slice, dice and mince now.....wonderful and fast! I purchased my first slicer from QVC about 4 years ago - Was so happy to find this on QVC website - ordered one as a gift and a second as a back up to my original - though I may not need a backup - my first one is working beaurtifully and shows no signs of wearing out.
great for a while
but...goes dull far too quickly. long time cook [20+ years].. used according to directions. Primarily used for cabbages and quick salads.
easy and quick
I purchased this a couple of years ago and it has become a great tool for me. Yes, the dial is hard to turn in the beginning, with use it gets easier. I also have a high quality mandoline that cost $150. I hardly ever use it. This is perfect for most of my slicing needs, you can put it in the dishwasher and I love the "tooth" at the end that you can fit onto any bowl. This will make great chopped salads, scalloped potatotes, and sliced onions in record time. Really a dependable item, that is super easy to use and wash. I also like the holder, I use this several times a week and have not cut myself. I can't say the same for my professional mandoline.
Worked out in the End
I bought this to use on Thanksgiving for the onions and celery for the stuffing. I went to do the onions in the small cubes and I had forgotten(from the on-air segment) how to make the small cubes!! That's just me. I sliced the onions as in onion ring style then cut them by hand! I finally figured it out when I got to the celery. It worked well. I don't know how much time it saved but I always wanted one of these food slicers. I will definately use it in the future.
