1.70 ct tw Ethiopian Opal & Black Spinel Sterling Ring
A beautiful ring and much sparkle. I receive several compliments each time I wear it.
The ring is BEAUTIFUL I love it. The opal is so full of vibrant colors and the black spinels glisten beautifully. I get compliments every time I wear it.
The only problem is, one of the prongs has a snag on it. If I didn't have to pay for shipping it back I would return it for a replacement. I will take it to a jewelers to see if they can buff it smooth. I love this ring. Looking to byt the matching earrings later.
This is a Reject
Just received this ring today and I am very disappointed The opal does not look like an opal . It has no colors in it,
I am returning it asap. I purchased this for myself
This is a keeper! I originally bought this for myself, but when I received it and saw how beautiful the opal was against the spinel, I had to put it aside for my daughter, whose birthstone is the opal. This will be a Christmas gift that I know she will love.
I was sooo looking forward to receiving this ring and once I did I was quite disappointed. Although I was very pleased with the opal...it was beautiful with lots of fire, the ring itself was a different story---it was not what I expected.
I was only able to wear it once- out to dinner & one of the prongs got caught on my sweater. Looking at the ring even closer I saw that you could easily bend the prongs back and forth...they were that weak and flimsy. Later that night while sitting on my sofa, the opal stone just fell out but luckily I found it .
The ring just appears to be made in a cheap manner which I noticed when I received it in the mail but really wanted to make it work because I love opal & this opal was truly beautiful. Unfortunately, I found myself returning it. :-(
This ring is so beautiful. The fire of the opal is impressive and realty stands out against theblack spinel. I receive complements every time I wear it.
As I said in the subject line, I was very disappointed with this ring. I don't own any opals of this type but I've seen them on other people and was always captivated by the rainbow of colors the opal would "throw off" dependingd on what kind of light it is viewed in. It looks beautiful in both natural and fluorescent light but different in each light source. I got a very gorgeous opal in this ring, full of fire and color in oranges, greens, and just about any color imagineable. So, after concentrating on the main attraction - the opal- you can
imagine my dismay when I found a black spinel stone was missing. I got it on easy pay but after discovering the missing stone, easy pay was no longer an option so I couldn't order another one using the fastest shipping option. If I could have done so, it would have meant a nearly seamless transaction but my budget wouldn't allow for it so back it went!
Happy with the ring I received
I think with these Ethiopian Opals, it can be it or miss on stone coloration. It'd be better to choose one in person, but good luck finding them locally and in different sizes. I lucked out and got a gorgeous fiery stone full of rainbow colors, it's mezmerizing. The black spinel was new to me, and I think it gives this ring a modern look. The band is comfortable and was just barely larger than true size on a mandrel, I'm glad about that.
The main stone feels secure. But thanks to other reviews, I'll be careful with this ring. Opals are a little too delicate for me to wear every day at work, but it'll be a regular choice for evenings out.
This ring is pretty on air, but even better in person!!!!!! Love the Spinel/Opal combo! Highly recommend this ring!!!
I love this ring. It is better in person than what it looks like online and on TV. My son's birthstone is opal so that is why I got it but also I love the black spinel (my first black spinel piece but not my last). I have only worn it once so far but got many compliments on it. We are going to a wedding in Sept. and I am wearing a black dress and this will go beautifully with it. Thanks for another great product!!
I'm not overly fond of the black spinel on this ring and that is why only 4 stars were given.
As indicated by others, it is fairly lightweight. I own several opal rings. One given to me by my father-in-law, a gemologist, is in 14 kt. gold. It was appraised and insured.
This is a VERY PRETTY opal. It's a dainty ring, and my suggestion is to clean it only with a polishing cloth and to occasionally put oil on it. It should last you an extremely long time, and I do recommend buying it!!
Beautiful Opal - setting too dainty for me
The opal in this ring is beautiful - so much fire and color, but the ring's setting is just too dainty for me. Alas it is going back.
