1.70 ct tw Ethiopian Opal & Black Spinel Sterling Ring
Minor flaws but decent for the price
This ring is pretty for the cost but expect flaws. Mine has black brush strokes around the spinel. The opal was pretty but now has a speckled milky appearance to it.
love this ring, can't stop looking at it.,my most favorite piece of jewelry I also got the Ethiopian opal cross although nice it is a disappointment it doesn't have the same watery look or color that the ring has. Hope they come out with a necklace to match the ring
I've waited a very long time for this ring to become available in a size 7. I received it today and was not disappointed. It is absolutely stunning. The opal has a wonderful fire and the black spinel surrounding the opal, enhances the look of the ring. It has a vintage feel that is charming. It's not too big of a ring, definitely not too small either. It's true to size. I love it!
The black spinel compliments the fire in this opal beautifully. My daughter's birthstone is Opal, and the minute I saw this on line, I had to purchase. I could tell by the picture it would be a keeper, and QVC did not disappoint on this one. When I received it, of course, I had to look, and could not believe how unique and GORGEOUS this ring is. I had a hard time giving it away, but my daughter love's it, and she has received many compliments on it. October babies, you won't be disappointed with this beauty.
As Always, GREAT JOB to your buyers and designers at QVC. Keep them coming!!
Love this ring
I orderd this ring because I love opal's and this is so much pretty than on TV. TV does not do this ring justice. It has a very large opal in the center of it. Yes I would recommend this to anybody that love jewerly like I do. I also purchase the 16.50 black spinel bracelet to go with this and they both are awsome. I got a size 5 in this and it just fix me.
Even better in person.
I just received my ring in the mail yesterday and I couldn't be happier! This ring is such a unique piece. It's feminine and bold. The contrast between the black spinel and opal is absolutely beautiful! To top it off this ring is very comfortable to wear. I am extremely happy with this purchase. If you like unique pieces of jewelry this ring is a must have your collection.
Even though this ring had many positive reviews, there were some negative reviews about the lack of color in the opal, so I was prepared to send it back. How delighted I was to see the beautiful rainbow of colors and the wonderful contrast with the sparkly black spinel border! I couldn't ask for more - a bold presence in a ring that is smaller than I would buy normally. And, I have wanted an Ethiopian Opal ring for a long time - I am so pleased that I waited for this one!
Loved this ring! But cheaply made...
The moment I got this ring I was in love. It is so very beautiful and unique! I have never seen anything like it. HOWEVER it is cheaply made. The prongs catch all the time, and one repeatedly came loose to the point where the opal finally fell out because THE PRONG FELL OFF. Luckily I found it on the floor. I'm definitely returning, but wondering if I should just get a refund or order another.
Taking a chance
It really boils down to what kind of stone you get. The prongs I find do catch on fabric and I'm constantly pulling material out of them. I'm not in love with the fact there's a gap between the opal stone and spinel circle. But really, it's all about the opal. And the only thing directing whether or not you love it is luck with which one you're sent. I keep flip flopping about sending mine back or keeping it. I can deal with the fabric catching. It's just that the opal is half the time pretty and colorful and half the time dull and drab like a dead fish eye. Very unappealing. I don't have much opal so I'm afraid to pay shipping twice and try another stone. Maybe sometimes they're supposed to look like creepy dead eyes. Maybe I'd just get the same effect no matter the opal or one that isn't pretty even half the time.
Meh. It's a risky purchase. I'm not entirely sure how I feel. I may send back. If it looked like a dazzling opal like I imagined it would in all kinds of lighting, there's no question I'd be thrilled to bits. I heard opals look best in dim lighting and those bright studio QVC lights don't do opals justice. Mine needs bright direct light to be pretty which also makes me think it may just be my particular opal. The dimmer the light, the more I want to avert my eyes from it. It mostly looks foggy and bland.
IT IS STUNNING I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING QUITE LIKE IT.
I think this ring is stunning. The opal is different but still beautiful and the black stones are amazing.
So much fire
I am an October baby and I could not pass this one up!
The fire on this Ethiopian opal is amazing. I keep staring at it! And the Black Spinel around it really sets it off.
