Dyson AM05 Hot & Cool Bladeless Air Multiplier Heater & Fan
Purchased as TSV. Had it placed just a foot from me. On full blast, just luke warm heat. I think it is defective as the presentation claims were a lot better than what I received. Going back.
I bought this unit when it was a TSV. We have a three season room in our house that we use all year long. We live in northwest Indiana where the winters get cold. We have an AC/heater unit in that room, but it just doesn't warm up the room enough in winter so I got the Dyson as a supplement. It keeps the room so nice and warm that the big heater hardly ever turns on now! I have the Dyson on the default setting of 68 degrees which is perfect for us. Our last electric bill was lower too since the Dyson is much cheaper to use than the big unit. Thank you QVC!!!
I Like It!
We have a cathedral ceiling in our LR and loft bedroom w/o heat. We turn the Dyson temp to 76 degrees and our thermostat down in the evening while we watch TV. The room warms up to 71 degrees. At bedtime we turn off the Dyson and my furnace does not go on now, until the am. The heat from the Dyson does this plus the heat rises and keeps my loft bedroom warm all nite. I am saving on my heating bill this New England winter. Plus now I am not chilly in my opened ceiling LR like I was before. This is supplemental heat for us to save on our heating bill and keep us comfortable. Waiting for the summer to see how cool it will keep us.
Appealing, but not practical.
This item is terribly overrated and definitely over priced. It puts out lukewarm air at best and really does not heat up a room as proclaimed in the presentation. I got took on the hype and started to buy two heaters, luckily I have only one to return.
1st Dyson product and dissapointed
Being a product of Dyson,I also thought it would be a great item. I litterally have to fight with it to make it come on and all I get is the cool fan. The heat will not come on for me. Possibly a battery problem? Regardless...I am disapointed Dyson, and do not think I will own another product of Dyson. The idea is great, but the quality is just not there. Mine is going back.
I ordered this fan as TSV and Im glad I did. The heater part really does work we have a room thats cold in the winter and hot in the summer so we bought this since the other heater/ac unit died on us. Well its worth the money the room size is 25x25 and it heats it up within 20 mins and we noticed a big difference from walking into that room and walking into another room we had to turn down the temp on the fan because it got too warm. I havent been able to use the cool part of the fan, but thats ok as long as the heater works then its worth it. This also will save on electric bill we wont have to turn up the heat for the whole house just to get that room warm. Also had no problem with outlet just plugged it into the wall with another appliance and had no problems with blowing fuses.
I was so excited to finally own a Dyson product because their reputation for quality is so good. I was totally disappointed because the heater simply did not warm the smallest room in my home. I had to put the heater on a stand that was less than 2 feet away from me just to take the chill off...the room was still freezing cold. It seems as though the design allows the cold air to come in on one side and then shoot out that same cold air on the other side. I will be returning this Dyson "air conditioner".
This item is terribly overrated and definitely over priced. It puts out lukewarm air at best and really does not heat up a room as proclaimed in the presentation. If I still had the boxing material, I would send back. Hopefully it will be a better fan in the summer.
Another Disappointed Customer
I purchased as a TSV and was excited to receive it, in hopes that my family room would be comfortable, but disappointed that it didn't do the trick. The air was warm while close to it but a few feet away I felt cool air as the machine was oscillating. It didn't do what I had expected. I packed it up for pickup tomorrow.
Yes, it Works.
The performance must be taken in context with its design. The power draw is about 1300-1400 watts. That's less than an average hair dryer and about as much as an appliance can safely draw from normal outlets; code dictates a higher capacity for kitchen/bath outlets.
That said, we are very pleased with the performance of the Dyson. I've turned off the ductless unit in the downstairs bonus room (about 400sqft) since we put the Dyson down there. I rarely use the higher fan speeds and it will hit the thermostat setting (74F) in under 20min. The room stays in the 60s or lower during winter and this heater will knock the chill off very quickly.
I cannot speak for the "cool" function other than it should work as any other regular fan would. It won't get cold, but will make a very nice breeze. You have to set the thermostat all the way down for just the fan to work.
Mobile app messed me up. I didn't intend to set a 'recommended for' but tapped it by accident.
I ordered this as a TSV and am sad to say I'm disappointed. It does seem to get the "bite" out of the air but overall it does not warm any of the rooms in my home. As the temperature started dropping, I found this item less effective as it just seems to circulate the air instead of actually warming it up. Not at all worth the hefty price-tag.
I wish I had the opportunity to read the reviews before I made the purchase. Tried to warm up a 12 x 11 room on 99 and didn't do anything but circulate cold air...when up close some warmer air could be felt....definately NOT worth the price and not any price for heat as it's a flop! Maybe just not good for cold N.E. weather...
